About the role

About The Role As our Spa Director you will be responsible for leading, developing, and managing the team of spa and wellness professionals, overseeing the daily operations of all spa facilities.

This role promotes a culture of collaboration, wellbeing, and high performance while ensuring an exceptional guest journey throughout the resort's spa areas.

Accountable for maintaining a profitable, efficient, and compliant operation, continuously evaluating and enhancing services in line with guest expectations, industry trends, and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Management

  • Lead, inspire, and motivate the Spa Team to achieve departmental and business goals.
  • Oversee all daily spa operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery.
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, teamwork, and guest-focused excellence.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term strategies to enhance service quality, guest experience, and financial performance.
  • Conduct regular meetings, briefings, and appraisals to support communication and development across the team.

Operational Excellence

  • Manage the complete operation of the spa facilities in line with company standards.
  • Continuously evaluate treatments, services, and wellness activities to ensure innovation and market competitiveness.
  • Liaise with Maintenance and Housekeeping to ensure all facilities are consistently presented to the highest standards.
  • Ensure all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are current, effective, and adhered to by the team.

Guest Service Excellence

  • Champion an exceptional guest experience across all spa facilities.
  • Ensure the team consistently delivers warm, professional, and personalised service at every touchpoint.
  • Monitor and respond promptly to guest feedback, complaints, or service recovery needs.
  • Develop and implement initiatives that enhance the guest journey, including bespoke wellness programmes and personalised recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to create engaging guest offers, packages, and loyalty incentives.
  • Promote a culture of attentiveness, anticipation of guest needs, and continuous improvement in service delivery.

Team Development & Productivity

  • Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for all spa colleagues.
  • Support and guide departmental supervisors and line managers in performance management and coaching.
  • Set clear objectives and KPIs for sales, treatments, and guest satisfaction.
  • Lead initiatives to increase retail and treatment revenue through upselling and engagement.
  • Monitor departmental performance reports and ensure administrative accuracy in scheduling, reporting, and payroll.

Financial Accountability

  • Prepare, manage, and review departmental budgets for the Spa.
  • Analyse financial data to identify trends, control costs, and improve profitability.
  • Maintain effective cost control across payroll, inventory, and operational expenses.
  • Evaluate product margins, retail performance, and treatment bookings to optimise revenue generation.
  • Stay commercially aware of market trends, competitor pricing, and service positioning.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all spa operations comply with current UK health, safety, and environmental legislation, including:

  • Health & Safety at Work Act

  • COSHH Regulations

  • Manual Handling and Fire Safety legislation

  • Conduct and record regular risk assessments within spa areas.

  • Deliver staff training on emergency procedures, first aid, and safe equipment operation.

  • Promptly report incidents, near-misses, and maintenance concerns through the proper channels.

  • Take personal responsibility for maintaining a safe, secure, and hygienic environment for all guests and colleagues.

Continuous Professional Development

  • Maintain awareness of emerging trends in spa and wellness industries.
  • Attend relevant training sessions, trade shows, and industry networking events.
  • Encourage a departmental culture focused on learning, innovation, and wellbeing.
  • Pursue opportunities to enhance personal leadership and professional knowledge.
