Who we are looking for
We are seeking a hands-on problem solver with strong experience in building systems and a passion for ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate brings a well-rounded skill set in maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting, and is equally comfortable tackling tasks directly, coordinating with contractors, or providing guidance to staff. With strong communication skills, independence, and a talent for organization, you will serve as the reliable point of contact for keeping the care home safe, functional, well-maintained and welcoming.

Essential qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

Coursework and/or experience in a wide variety of building maintenance functions, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, heating or other building maintenance work
-
Demonstrated experience diagnosing trouble in all types of building systems and determining the proper methods, tools, supplies and equipment for maintenance repair, and maintaining required work records
-
Experience coordinating maintenance, repair work, and installation of equipment with other trades personnel and/or contractors

Desired knowledge, skills and suitability
If selected for an interview, candidates should have, and may be assessed on, the following:

Ability to manage a building maintenance caseload

Ability to coach staff on the care home’s emergency procedures

Conditions of employment
You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.
TB Screening, Vulnerable Sector RCMP Security Clearance, Valid Class 4 Drivers Licence, WHMIS 2015, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate.
Job requirements
This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:
Exposure to heat (outside or building temperature), cold (outside or unheated premises), dust, dirt or areas with unpleasant fumes, animals in the Pet Therapy program, exposure to second-hand smoke, exposure to latex products, exposure to plants/flowers. Heavy lifting and bending is required. Required to wear CSA approved safety footwear.
