Description

We are seeking a full-time pastor. The individual to be considered will be an individual with ministry experience and an education that includes at least a Bachelor of Theology. It is expected that the candidate will have accreditation with the CBOQ (Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec) or all Canadian Baptist Conventions or be willing to begin that accreditation process immediately.

Where We Are

We are a growing community church nestled among the urban and rural area of Stoney Creek/ Hamilton, with proximity to schools, hospitals, arts & theatre, outdoor and indoor sports activities, as well as being within travel distance to Brantford, Burlington, and Toronto.

Who We Are

We are a small church with attendees from diverse ethnic and social backgrounds. We strongly support missions, which include a Cancer Care ministry, a community ‘Blessing Cupboard’ as well as established mens’ and womens’ ministries within the church. Currently, we are reestablishing our youth ministry. Our community outreach programs are being performed to serve the needs we see in the community and with the ultimate goal to reach others with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through our online Zoom ministry and, along with Masala Ministries, we seek to reach and impact some of our international pastors/partners and their missions.

Bachelor of Theology, minimum 10 years’ experience, Ordained and member of CBOQ or affiliate

Role and Responsibilities

PREACHING & TEACHING As pastor of HGCC our pastor will: Be studied to preach and/or teach in the Sunday Morning service. The Pastor will oversee and, when necessary, lead any of the Christian Education ministries of the church - including Bible studies and prayer groups. Work in conjunction with the Worship Team for all worship services. PASTORAL MINISTRIES The incumbent pastor will: Supervise all Pastoral staff/volunteers. Provide counselling and pastoral care as needed, including in crisis situations, through the most effective means possible. Be available and willing to perform weddings and funerals, as needed. Work out the schedule of hours of ministry with the Deacons. The Pastor shall report to the Deacons Committee. Oversee the administering of ordinances at the appropriate times. ADMINISTRATION DUTIES As part of the administrative duties the Pastor: Will be ex-officio of all church committees and boards. The Pastor will be a non-voting member of council. COMMUNITY CONNECTED As we seek to grow and impact the community around us, the successful candidate Will enjoy interaction and recognize the diversity of our community and be accepting to all. Engage in communications with the various leaders of the surrounding churches where possible. Have a passion for missions. Be willing to help build and encourage present and future outreach opportunities. Heritage Green Community Church is affiliated with CBOQ and thus accreditation with that body is something we look for, as noted above. VISIONING Our prayer is that HGCC of the future will be different than what the church is today. With that in mind, we are seeking a person whose personal vision for kingdom growth is evident in what they do and how they live. Your vision as pastor, we hope, will be the inspiration for what drives us to envision greater things yet to be for HGCC.
