The Role
We are looking for a Senior Corporate Applications Enterprise Architect to support our Knowledge, Information and Technology Services (KITS) branch. The selected candidate would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the strategic design of enterprise architectural frameworks and contribute to the implementation of corporate applications across the organisation. These responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with business objectives, with a focus on supporting and enhancing the corporate application environment.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and implement strategic architectural frameworks aligned with business goals and support cross-functional integration in consultation with senior business-line and IT managers within the organization.
- Design applications for seamless integration and interoperability across various systems and business units. Conducts research and coordinate the development complex architectural solutions.
- Provides expert advice on technical issues relating to application development and the existing and potential role of IT applications in short, medium, and long-term IT strategies and plans for the organization.
- Provides expert advice on IT architectural frameworks, standards, plans and designs; on the introduction of replacement technologies to replace legacy technologies over the medium to longer term; and on the impact of IT policies, standards and guidelines.
- Develops and implements corporate strategies and initiatives to ensure that the computing systems environment (which may involve a broad and complex mix of business, scientific, operational, office automation computer systems, networks and departmental data centres), effectively supports all the NRC's current and future programs.
- Identifies opportunities for service enhancement and recommends new IT initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs.
Screening Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:
Education
Degree from a recognized university in computer science, engineering, management information systems, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position.
A diploma from a recognized college or post-secondary institute in an IT related field combined with extensive experience (at least 5 years) in Enterprise Architecture in the Information Technology or Information Management field may be considered.

Experience
- Extensive** experience in corporate applications (e.g. CRM, SAP, etc) enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies, with the ability to apply these principles to complex IT environments.
- Extensive** experience in providing architectural advice as a technical authority on IT needs. This includes guiding and mentoring teams on best practices and ensuring alignment with industry standards.
- Experience in the systems development life cycle, applying this framework to analyze business objectives, and develop responsive technical solutions.
- Significant* experience in client engagement to understand and define requirements to align architectures and ensure successful project delivery.
- Recent*** experience of successfully managing and delivering large-scale IT projects, with a focus on quality, timeliness, and budget adherence.
- Recent* experience with one or more of the current and emerging trends and developments in Enterprise Architecture, such as:
o Infrastructure Architecture
o Operational Technology Architecture
o Cloud Architecture
o Service Oriented Architecture
o Identity and Access Management
o Enterprise Platforms and Solutions
o Open Standards
o Big Data and Machine learning
o Generative AI

Significant experience is defined as having the depth and breadth of experience that would normally have been gained performing the duties over a period of three (3) years or more.
** Extensive experience is a minimum of 5 years experience

A thorough security clearance process will be applied.
For a Secret Clearance, verification of background information over a period of 10 years is required. Individuals must have lived in Canada for a sufficient period of time to enable the security screening process.

- Comprehensive understanding of theories, principles, practices, and methodologies related to computer science, technical architecture, and enterprise IT systems. - Deep knowledge of strategic planning methodologies, enabling the development and execution of corporate IT strategies. Ability to collaborate and negotiate with external partners to design and implement IT architecture solutions that align with departmental priorities. Skilled in advising senior management on IT strategic planning.
- Understanding of departmental and federal IT policies to assess and identify architectural needs. Ability to provide expert insights on how enterprise architecture adjustments can address policy, program, and organizational objectives.

Compensation
From $118,246 to $142,767 per annum.
