Qualifications Required
- High school diploma, or equivalent.
- Certificate of Qualification in Facilities Systems, or a post-secondary diploma in Industrial Millwright, Sheet Metal Worker or Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Cooling.
- Minimum of 6 months related work experience.
- Valid Ontario G-class Driver's License.
The Following Are Considered Assets
- Gas Technician 2 Certificate through the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) is an asset.
- Small Water Systems Certificate.
- Basic electrical knowledge.
Main Responsibilities The purpose of the Maintenance II – Preventative Maintenance position is to provide preventative maintenance services to the system. Primary responsibilities include:
- Inspects, maintains and repairs heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
- Investigates, identifies and repairs problems such as indoor air quality and boiler inefficiencies.
- Maintains, repairs and replaces all mechanical equipment related to boilers, cooling systems, air handling units and fans.
- Performs preventative maintenance on all mechanical systems as directed.
- Completes chemical and combustion tests on boilers, lubricate pumps and motors.
- Completes gas fired domestic hot water tank annual service.
- Transports chemicals in a Board vehicle to various locations.
- Inventories supplies to stock department.
- Identifies and makes recommendations for Supervisor’s assessment of items for normal repair and energy conservation.
- Liaises with head custodians, principals and contractors in doing repairs and maintenance.
- Checks, stocks and operates a board vehicle
- Maintains detailed documentation on work completed.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
