Job Summary

The Scale Operator plays a key role in providing exceptional administrative support and ensuring efficient scale operations at our Niagara Falls, ON facility. This position serves as the first point of contact for residents, visitors, and guests. In addition, the role is responsible for operating the scale system to process inbound and outbound loads, maintaining accurate records, and supporting financial and operational reporting. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, customer-focused, and adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Position Description

  • Handling boxes of confidential paper from residents and small businesses and completing financial transactions using the POS (point of sale) system.
  • Selling organic waste and kitchen containers to the public and completing financial transactions using the POS (point of sale) system.
  • Completing financial transactions using the POS (point of sale) system for the sale of crushed glass in 50 lb bags and super sacs.
  • Reconciling all daily financial transactions through the POS (point of sale) system.
  • Be the first point of contact for all residents, visitors, and guests.
  • Monitoring front gate for vehicle traffic and monitoring of video surveillance system for site security.
  • Preparing daily product incoming and outgoing inventory reports and editing weigh tickets to ensure accuracy.
  • Inputting data into FIIX, a cloud-based computerized maintenance and spare parts management system.
  • Uploading of product pictures and audit sample videos, as required.
  • Entering manual scale tickets.
  • Scaling inbound and outbound trucks using Scale Manager software.
  • Ensuring weights of outbound loads are correct and direct shipping staff to adjust, as necessary.
  • Opening and closing each disposal ticket in the scale system.
  • Entering data and updating of daily, weekly, and monthly reports where required.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or GED equivalency; job related post-secondary education considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office (Word, Excel); working knowledge of a scale system considered an asset.
  • An aptitude for numbers and sharp attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Self-driven and energetic.
  • High energy level with a comfort level interacting with employees of all levels.
  • Ability to multi-task duties and shift priorities, as necessary.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • A desire and comfort in working within a manufacturing/plant facility.
  • Strong organizational and calendar management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, team environment.
  • Proactive and able to continuously manage change in an extremely fast paced, energetic work environment.
