Diamond Estates Wines & Spirits is the third largest producer of VQA wines in Niagara, Ontario and we are looking for our next team member to fulfill the role of Financial Accounting Manager.
In this full-time position you will work closely with the CFO and cross-functional teams to drive process improvements, ensure compliance, and deliver accurate and timely financial information. This is a hands-on role with exposure to inventory management, overhead allocation, tax filings, excise tax, and external reporting, making it an excellent growth opportunity for a well-rounded accounting leader.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including variance analysis and performance commentary.
- Prepare annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, incorporating input from operations, sales, and marketing.
- Maintain and improve financial models to support scenario analysis and decision-making.
- Support preparation of board packages, lender reporting, and investor materials.
- Consolidate and validate data from multiple sources (ERP, inventory, sales, POS) to ensure reporting accuracy.
- Support tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs) across the winery and agency businesses.
- Prepare ad hoc analyses to support decision-making on pricing, product mix, and promotional programs.
Accounting & Inventory Management
- Oversee inventory reconciliation processes and ensure accuracy across multiple systems.
- Perform costing analysis, overhead allocation, and standard cost updates.
- Support monthly close process, journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of accounts receivable and escalate overdue accounts as needed.
Tax & Compliance
- Prepare or assist with monthly and annual tax filings, including HST, income tax, and excise tax.
- Manage J10 filings and compliance with applicable wine industry regulations.
- Coordinate with external auditors and support preparation of audit schedules and documentation.
Process Improvement & Controls
- Identify and implement process improvements in accounting workflows and reporting.
- Collaborate with operational teams to improve accuracy of financial and inventory data.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and support development of new policies and procedures.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA designation (or in progress).
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting and/or FP&A experience.
- Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, costing, and tax compliance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems (e.g., Sage) is an asset.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with a collaborative approach.
- Experience in the wine, beverage alcohol, or consumer goods industry would be an asset
- Familiarity with Power BI or other business intelligence tools is an asset.
- Exposure to public company reporting requirements also an asset.
- Ability to work primarily onsite at our Niagara Region office with some flexibility to work from home and/or our Oakville office.
