About the role

Reporting to the General Supervisor, the Service Supervisor provides day-to-day support to mine operations. This role directs and supervises the mechanical and welding services on the customer site and supports the customer with major projects and outages.

This role is based at Gahcho Kué, NWT. FIFO marshalling points are Calgary and Yellowknife, with a travel allowance provided for transportation to and from these locations.

This position will work a 14x14 schedule.

The salary range for this position is $130,000 to $140,000 per year.

What you’ll do:

  • Coordination. Implements mechanical services best practices. Monitors all mechanical measures, resource consumptions, work product, and work schedules to ensure overall plan execution, resource consumptions, timelines, and deadlines are consistently attained or improved upon. Coordinates work through other trades and shops such as welding and warranty claims. Monitors established performance indicators such as variance reports, production reports, quality reports, and injury reports.
  • Supervision. Ensures that operational requirements are met by supervising, coordinating and scheduling the activities of tradespeople who repair and maintain mining equipment. Takes corrective action to improve job results by counselling and disciplining employees as require. Advises on compliance with company policies, and adherence to quality control standards.
  • Safety. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by developing and enforcing procedures, rules, regulations, and controls in job execution. This includes customer and SMS safety requirements. Ensures all tradespeople are exercising safe procedures and that trade practices and regulations are followed.

What you bring:

This position requires a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Journeyperson in a relevant trade and previous experience in a supervisory position. Additional qualifications include:

  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance and repair of mining equipment.
  • Strong ability to plan, develop, coordinate, and direct detailed phases of mechanical functions including the performance of the same.
  • Ability to conduct independent evaluation, selection, adaptation, and modification of mechanical services best practice.
  • Strong knowledge of mining and OH&S acts and regulations.
  • WSCC Mine Supervisor Certification an asset (Level I or II).
