Reporting Manager: Logistics Leader

Location: Wingham Distribution Yard

Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Summer Student to assist with daily yard operations. This role supports the shipping, loading, and staging teams by helping maintain an organized and safe yard environment. The successful candidate will work closely with yard personnel to ensure materials and loads are prepared accurately and efficiently.

Position Qualifications:

Education & Knowledge

currently enrolled in secondary school, college, or university

• Self-starter & Team Player
• Excellent time management
• Physical strength is required for manual material handling
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Ability to work in an outdoor environment in various weather conditions
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures
• Physically capable of lifting, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods

Experience

• Previous yard, warehouse, or labour experience is considered an asset but not required

Communication

• Excellent English Communication skills (oral and written)
• Interpersonal skills

Responsibilities:

• Assist with placing and organizing dunnage for loads and material storage
• Perform load checks and verification to ensure accuracy and securement requirements are met
• Act as a spotter during loading, unloading, and yard movements to support safe operations
• Assist with staging materials and organizing outgoing shipments
• Maintain cleanliness and general organization throughout the yard
• Support yard staff with general labour tasks as required
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, drivers, and team members
• Inventory activities such as counting, weighing, sorting, packing, and unpacking
• General yard maintenance, tidy inventory / warehouse
• Consistently maintains acceptable level of productivity
• Other duties as assigned
