Location: Sundance, Calgary, AB
Position Type: Full-Time, Temporary (Maternity Leave Coverage)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Reports to: ECS Manager

As a key member of the ECS interdisciplinary team, the Education Manager models Pacekids’ core values, collaboration, learning, respect, integrity, and accountability, and fosters a supportive, mission-driven environment for both staff and families.
Job Description:
Include but are not limited to:
- Support, mentor and supervise all teachers.
- Support Teachers to develop and execute their Teacher Professional Growth Plans, including researching and sharing professional development opportunities.
- Coordinate and facilitate team meetings for Teachers.
- Provide effective performance feedback through regular classroom observations.
- Manage day to day performance concerns with Teachers.
- Ensuring each teacher’s practice aligns with the Teacher Quality Standard.
- Review and validate Preschool children’s Individual Program Plan (IPP) goals.
- Oversee the Long Range, Short Term, and Daily Lesson Plan development for all teachers, ensuring that they meet FLIGHT Framework principles, and Alberta Kindergarten Curriculum standards
- Source activities and curriculum support that align with curriculum and yearly/monthly theme planning to be shared with Teachers, as needed.
- Plan and coordinate in and out of school fieldtrips and community outings and family participation in school activities (e.g. “Bring your parent to school day”).
- Create opportunities to consult and communicate with other team members to ensure program cohesiveness and to facilitate opportunities for collaboration.
- Ensure that classroom practices meet monitoring, Alberta Education, and Occupational, Health & Safety standards.
- Assist the Program Coordinator with the placement of float staff.
- Provide support and direction to the team members in the ECS community programs and partnering with the community sites to provide PUF programming within their facilities (South Education Manager).
Requirements:
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- Experience working with children with diverse needs
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to work effectively with students, families, and staff
- Strong communication, leadership, time management and organizational skills
- Demonstrates a deep understanding of special education and works comfortably with early learners from ages 2 ½ to 6 years
- Ability to work collaboratively on a team, as well as an ability to take initiative and work independently
- Extensive knowledge of:
- Teaching Quality Standard
- Flight: Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework
- Alberta Kindergarten Curriculum
- Play-based programming for early childhood education
- Health & Safety Guidelines for Child Care Facilities
- Tact, discretion, and ability to always maintain confidentiality
- Clearance from a Criminal Record check, including a Vulnerable Sector check, current within the last six months; can be obtained upon hire within a designated time frame
- Clearance from a Child Intervention Record Check, current within the last year; can be obtained upon hire within a designated time frame
