Are you a detail-oriented professional with a passion for customer service and community engagement? The City of Owen Sound is hiring a Customer Service Representative to provide front-line support at City Hall, assisting residents and visitors with inquiries, payments, and municipal services.
What You’ll Do
As a Service Owen Sound Representative, you’ll:
- Greet and assist visitors at City Hall and respond to inquiries via phone and email.
- Process payments for taxes, utilities, licenses, transit, parking, and other services.
- Handle facility bookings, donations, and registration for various City programs.
- Maintain accurate financial records and perform daily reconciliations.
- Support administrative tasks, including address changes, billing updates, and account statements.
- Direct customers to appropriate resources for non-City-related inquiries.
- Ensure confidentiality and uphold City policies and procedures.
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience:
- College diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 2 years of customer service or administrative experience.
- Municipal experience considered an asset.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and municipal software (e.g., Great Plains, PerfectMind, ShoreTel).
- High attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling and data entry.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.
- Knowledge of Owen Sound and municipal operations is an asset.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Other Requirements:
- Criminal record check.
- Internal candidates must have a satisfactory attendance and performance record.
Compensation & Benefits
- Wage: $28.17-$33.16/hour
- Hours: 24 hours/week, Monday-Friday (4-5 hours/day). Flexibility to work additional hours may be required to support operational needs, including vacation coverage and other team support needs.
- Benefits: 50/50 co-pay health & dental coverage, OMERS defined benefit pension plan
