The role:
As a Mechanical Forensic Expert, you will be called upon to solve some of the most unique and puzzling cases in the field of building mechanics. Amongst other things, you will work with HVAC systems, plumbing, fire protection systems as well as with different equipment in commercial, industrial, hospital and residential environments. No mystery is too small or too big for you to solve. You can solve them all! You will have to:
- Carry out observations, analyses, assemblies and laboratory tests. Document tangible evidence by taking photographs, videos, samples, readings and any other information that you deem useful in order to solve the puzzle.
- Interview witnesses and other parties involved in the investigation, all while showcasing your incredible social skills.
- Collect and analyze data as well as other evidence.
- Write convincing and accessible reports to a reader who is not an expert in the field. These reports detail all the stages of the investigation which led you to a logical and unequivocal conclusion.
- Provide an assessment of the extent of the work necessary in order to repair the damage under study, when required.
- Take full advantage of our procedures and guidelines under our ISO certified operational framework.
- Collaborate with other investigators to solve multidisciplinary mysteries.
- Promote the company through your friendly and professional attitude during your interactions with customers and strengthen your relationships with them.
- Give your 200% and don't let anyone stand in your way and prevent you from earning monthly and annual bonuses, which will be granted to you when you exceed the objectives assigned to you.
What you bring to the table:
- A mechanical or materials engineering degree.
- P.Eng. designation with at least 5 years of experience.
- Work experience relevant to building mechanics (HVAC) is an asset.
- Experience in the field of forensics or failure analysis is an asset.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- The ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
- A deep understanding of the power of laughter and its ability to make even the toughest of cases seem less daunting.
- Curiosity, good judgment and initiative.
