IREN is seeking a Mechanical Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations of Mechanics and HVAC Technicians, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable performance of critical data center mechanical systems. This role oversees preventive and corrective maintenance for cooling systems, air handling units, exhaust fans, and related infrastructure to support maximum uptime.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, hands-on leadership, and a commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement in a mission-critical environment.
Job Requirements
- Red Seal Certification as Heavy Duty Mechanic, or other related experience maintaining large diesel generators and HVAC units.
- 5+ years of mechanical or HVAC experience, preferably in mission‑critical environments such as data centers, industrial facilities, or large commercial buildings.
- 1–3 years of supervisory or team-lead experience.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, cooling systems, and mechanical infrastructure.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical documents.
- Proficiency with maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on approach.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in fast‑paced environments with shifting priorities.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of Mechanics, HVAC Technicians, and site maintenance technicians including scheduling, task assignment, performance feedback, and development.
- Oversee maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical systems such as HVAC units, air handling systems, and other cooling infrastructure.
- Ensure all mechanical systems are operated and maintained to meet organizational uptime, safety, and efficiency standards.
- Maintain and improve preventive maintenance (PM) programs; review PM results and recommend improvements.
- Maintain a fleet of 28ea 2.5MW diesel stand-by generators and 84ea 20-ton roof top units.
- Respond to mechanical incidents and emergencies, participate in root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with electrical, operations, and engineering teams, and maintenance planner to coordinate cross-functional work and projects.
- Ensure all work complies with regulatory requirements, manufacturer specifications, and internal policies.
- Maintain accurate records including work orders, inspections, parts usage, and system logs.
- Support planning and execution of site upgrades, installations, and commissioning of new equipment.
- Promote a strong safety culture through consistent training, hazard identification, safe work procedures, and incident reporting.
