We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our Transportation team. This position is responsible for developing contract specifications and overseeing contracts for maintenance services, materials supply and delivery; highway permitting, performing aggregate sales, and ensuring compliance with legislation. This position also maintains databases and inventories for various Transportation Maintenance purposes. While supporting the Head Planner this position will assist with crushing plans, highways permitting, signs and road-markings, delivery logistics, BST resurfacing and highway maintenance plans. This position will also perform on-site inspections and light field work as necessary.

- Experience in highway maintenance and construction activities;
- Experience with procurement for both services and goods;
- Experience with contract development, management, and closeout;
- Experience utilizing various computer applications (i.e. Word, Access, Excel, database systems);
- Experience writing technical letters and reports;
- Site inspection and materials measurement experience.
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
Desired Knowledge, Skills And Suitability The ideal candidate will possess these qualifications, skills and knowledge, but also demonstrate suitability for the role and organizational culture. Key competencies for success in this role include:
- Project coordination and organization skills;
- Analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Knowledge of government contracting and environmental issues in highway maintenance and construction;
- Proficiency in using computer applications, specifically Microsoft Excel;
- Adaptable to a fast-paced work environment;
- Detail-focused and ability to meet deadlines;
- Willing to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Conditions of Employment This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following condition(s) of employment:
- Valid Yukon Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent.
Job Requirements This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following job requirements:
- Travel,
- Working in adverse weather conditions,
- Mandatory use of personal protective equipment.
