Hollyburn Family Services is seeking aFamily Preservation Workerto provide in-home and community-based support to families experiencing challenges that may impact family stability. In this role, you will work alongside parents and caregivers to build practical parenting skills, strengthen family relationships, and help children remain safely within their homes.

This position is ideal for professionals with experience as aFamily Support Worker, Social Worker, Child and Youth Worker, Outreach Worker, or Family Counsellorwho are passionate about supporting families through meaningful, strengths-based interventions.

Position Summary

TheFamily Preservation Workerprovides intensiveoutreach and in-home support servicesto families with children under the age of 19. Referrals may come from theMinistry for Children and Family Development (MCFD), community agencies, or through self-referral.

Working collaboratively with families, MCFD social workers, and community partners, the Family Preservation Worker focuses on strengthening family functioning throughparenting education, crisis support, advocacy, and life skills development.

This role involves developingindividualized family service plans, providing regular in-home support, and connecting families with community resources to promotesafe, healthy, and stable family environments.

The Family Preservation Worker reports to theSenior Program Manager – Outreach.

Hours

40 hours per week

Hours are flexible and scheduled based on client needs and family availability, including community outreach visits.

Qualifications

  • MSW or MA in Counselling Psychology, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of experience providing family services or community-based support
  • Eligible for membership with a recognized professional association
  • Must own a vehicle, hold a valid BC Driver’s License and have business insurance with $3 million liability.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (training provided if required)
  • Mandt certification (training provided if required)
  • Ability to successfully complete a Criminal Record Check

Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting families withparenting education, conflict resolution, and crisis intervention
  • Strong understanding offamily dynamics and child development
  • Experience withcase planning, case management, and family support strategies
  • Ability to work with families experiencingstress, conflict, and complex life circumstances
  • Experience collaborating withMCFD, community agencies, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Clear, direct, and sensitiveverbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage adynamic caseload
  • Proficiency in writing reports and documentation usingMicrosoft Word

What You Will Be Doing

  • Develop and maintain professional, supportive relationships with families
  • Collaborate with MCFD Social Workers and community partners
  • Work with families to create individualized service plans with achievable goals
  • Provide parent education, advocacy, and life skills support
  • Support families experiencing parent-child or youth conflict and crisis situations
  • Maintain a caseload where approximately 50–70% of time is dedicated to direct client support
  • Complete required documentation including assessments, progress reports, and incident reports
  • Connect families with community resources and supports
  • Participate in team meetings, program meetings, and clinical supervision
  • Support mentorship and training of new team members when required
