The Opportunity
The Career Coach plays a dynamic role working with our specialized populations and supporting the daily operations of the Maple Ridge WorkBC Centre.
RESPONSIBILITIES**:**
KEYDUTIES:
- Conduct Client Needs Assessments to determine the appropriate WorkBC services and supports.
- Conduct a thorough Disability Related Needs Assessment (DRENA).
- Assess and refer to specialized assessments as part of a client Action Plan; (including medical assessment reports, Psychological and Vocational, Learning Disability, Neuropsychological, and Functional Capacity).
- Interpret results of the specialized assessments and recommend next steps. This may include support for long-term interventions or external referrals to appropriate community agencies.
- Work with Client’s natural support network and other community service providers, as needed.
- Assist Clients with the development and updating of individualized action plans.
- Provide ongoing Client support and guide clients through appropriate services that best meet their needs within the full continuum of WorkBC services.
- Maintain up to date documentation in ICM regarding the Client’s progress, referrals, notes, updates, outcomes and reports.
- Maintain consistent contact with clients throughout their participation in the program and monitor their need for support and services.
- Manage and respond to formal client referrals and client engagement reporting using the ICM Service Request guide.
- Meet or exceed performance targets such as referrals to Customized Employment, Skills Training and Client Outcomes.
COMMUNITYOUTREACH:
- Provide outreach for case managed services as needed.
- Participate in committees with the mandate of supporting Clients with Disabilities. Represent the Maple Ridge WorkBC Centre through participation in community events, such as career fairs, community days, and other special events.
QUALITYASSURANCE:
- Work to Training Group’s Quality Management System, ISO9001:2015 standard. Collaborate with the Training Group’s WorkBC Quality Assurance team.
ADDITIONALDUTIES:

Participate in regular team meetings, program review and Client review sessions.

Perform miscellaneous duties as required.

WHAT IT TAKES

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and training in the career counselling sector.
-
Experience with employment counseling and programs.
-
Experience working with individuals living with a disability.
-
Creative and passionate about working with clients to achieve sustainable employment.
-
Possess strong interpersonal skills.
-
Able to engage in meaningful conversations with positive outcomes using active listening and empathy.
-
Knowledge of career assessment, problem solving strategies, and decision-making theories.
-
Knowledge of local labour market and trends.
-
Knowledge of WorkBC and its mandate.
-
Demonstrated ability to use computer software applications including MS Office, client management systems and the ability to research information using the Internet.

Willingness to travel within Lower Mainland and reliable transportation with valid BC Driver’s License.
-
Satisfactory completion of a Criminal Record check including a vulnerable population check. A criminal record will not automatically result in your application for employment being denied.
Certifications considered an asset:

Career Development Practitioner.

Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor.

Additional Information
This contract position is 40 hours per week located at the WorkBC Maple Ridge office. Working hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am-5:00pm, but will require occasional evening shifts until 6:30pm.
