CDEV currently manages over $75 billion in assets through eight subsidiaries, forming the CDEV Group of Companies. Its high-profile roles in recent years include the purchase and ongoing management of the Trans Mountain pipeline, the establishment of the $15-billion Canada Growth Fund, and the establishment and operation of the Large Employer Emergency Financing Facility (LEEFF) program, which provided over $7 billion in structured bridge financing to large Canadian companies who were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.  The CDEV Group of Companies continues to grow with CDEV having been mandated to lead the delivery of the $10-billion federal Indigenous Loan Guarantee Program and structure a significant financing agreement with Telesat, Canada’s largest ever space program.

Position Overview

The Accounting Clerk will support the Finance team in managing day-to-day transactional accounting activities related to payables and receivables. This role is critical to ensure accurate financial reporting, timely processing of payments and receipts, and maintaining strong internal controls in alignment with CDEV’s operational and audit standards.

Responsibilities

 

Accounts Payable

  • Perform various functions of accounts payable, including wire transfers, EFT’s and invoice payments for CDEV and its subsidiaries.
  • Process vendor invoices and employee expense claims in accordance with CDEV’s policies.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment runs and resolve discrepancies with vendors.
  • Ensure proper authorization for payables is obtained as per Delegation of Authority policy.
  • Maintain vendor records and support vendor onboarding processes including call-back procedures and verifying payment information.
  • Assist with monthly accruals and reconciliations.
  • Prepare corporate credit card reconciliations on a timely basis.

Accounts Receivable

  • Monitor incoming payments and ensure timely application to customer accounts.
  • Prepare and issue invoices for intercompany and external transactions.
  • Reconcile receivable balances and follow up on outstanding amounts.
  • Support dividend and other receivables tracking and reporting.

General Ledger and Reporting

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and reconciliations as required to support period close financial reporting.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor queries.
  • Maintain accurate records, internal controls, and documentation contributing to financial statement preparation.

Banking and Treasury

  • Collect and compile monthly bank reports and balances from online banking portals at month-end.
  • Support preparation of monthly cash position reports and short-term investment summaries.
  • Assist in monitoring short-term investment activity and ensuring accurate reporting of balances and interest income.
  • Gather data and assist in preparing periodic cash flow forecasts, identifying timing differences between receipts, disbursements, and investment maturities.
  • Support reconciliation of bank accounts and investment statements.
  • Manage banking administration, including account setup, signatory updates, and coordination with financial institutions.

Systems and Process Improvement

  • Support transition and integration efforts related to ERP systems (e.g., Sage 50, Dynamics 365).
  • Participate in finance modernization initiatives and contribute to process mapping and documentation.
  • Maintain the internal SAP Concur expense system.

Other Financial Duties

  • Manage banking administration including processing banking changes such as account signatory updates.
  • Oversee the corporate flight pass administration and reconciliation on a quarterly basis.

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Post-secondary education in accounting, finance or business administration (certificate, diploma or relevant coursework)
  • 2-3 years of progressive experience in accounts payable or accounting support.
  • Demonstrated experience with invoice processing, vendor management and payment reconciliation, month-end closing and accruals.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage 50, Dynamics 365).
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles (GAPP) and invoice processing cycles
  • Familiarity with IFRS and public sector financial reporting standards is an asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
  • Exposure to public-sector or Crown-Corporation financial policies is a strong asset.
