The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety is seeking a flexible and highly motivated individual for the role of Programs Clerk.
In this rewarding position, you will be responsible for duties such as:
- operating computers and office equipment.
- entering and retrieving data using various software programs.
- keeping records and retrieving or searching files.
- receiving, sorting or distributing mail.
- providing reception services and general program information.
As the Programs Clerk, you will be expected to demonstrate the following abilities:

Verbal Communication:
Effectively gather and relay accurate, complete information from incoming phone calls, walk-in clients, and coworkers. You must be able to communicate clearly and professionally, ensuring messages are directed to the appropriate individuals in a timely manner. -
Technical Proficiency – Computer Skills:
Accurately input, update, proofread, and retrieve data using various computer software programs. Speed and precision are essential, particularly when working with systems such as CJIMS and Microsoft Office. -
Written Communication:
Compose, edit, and proofread a variety of written materials including reports, memos, and correspondence for your own and others’ signatures. Your writing must be clear, concise, grammatically correct, and formatted in a visually professional manner. -
Interpersonal Skills – Relationship Building:
Liaise effectively with staff, other ministries, external agencies, and the public to obtain, exchange, and confirm information. You must maintain confidentiality at all times and operate within established policies and procedures. -
Independence and Teamwork:
Work independently with minimal supervision and contribute positively to team efforts. You should be able to complete assignments efficiently, support common goals, and foster a respectful and collaborative work environment.Our candidate of choice will be a flexible and highly motivated individual who enjoys a fast-paced challenging environment with diverse job expectations. Your knowledge of applicable computer hardware and software applications and terminology, and the ability to accurately compose, and/or edit a variety of correspondence will contribute to your success in this challenging position.
