About the role
Sick of commuting? Tired of “hybrid” and “remote” jobs that are really “in office” jobs in disguise? If you’re more productive at home than in an office, and want to make that arrangement permanent, we may have the position you’re after.
At CarriersEdge, we’re focused on producing great quality products and happy customers. We don’t care about being the coolest company in town, having the most amazing office perks, or the hippest staff. If you’re interested in those things, you’ll hate us.
On the other hand, if you’re not looking for a social group and just want to do great work, then you may be exactly what we’re looking for. We don’t care where you work and we won’t be looking over your shoulder micromanaging you. You’ll have minimal meetings disrupting your week, and plenty of time to focus on doing the best job possible. We’re growing, but not so quickly that things are chaotic.
As part of that growth, we’ve got an opening for a Channel Business Development Manager.
The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in the skills outlined below, and enjoys building relationships that drive results.
This isn’t a big company with layers of bureaucracy and committees for every decision, or a startup at risk of losing funding or being forced to pivot on someone’s whim. Our business is established and stable, but still small enough that we can move quickly. If you fit the profile below, send us your résumé and let’s talk.
About the Position
CarriersEdge is a leading provider of online driving training to the North American trucking industry. We sell both directly to private and for-hire trucking fleets and through a partner network of insurance companies and brokers, risk consultants, and other industry partners.
As the Channel Business Development Manager, you will own the partner network and will be responsible for leading business growth through increasing engagement with existing partners, and finding and developing new partner relationships. You will also be responsible for managing the demo and closing process for end customers that are referred through our partner network.
Your day-to-day might mean kicking off your morning scheduling follow-ups with brokers you met at a recent safety conference, and that afternoon, demoing our platform to a fleet referred by a trusted partner. You’ll work closely with marketing on co-branded campaigns, research new outreach opportunities, and prep for upcoming industry events, all while keeping your pipeline organized and momentum steady.
About You
- You’ve built your career in business development, partnerships, or channel sales, and you understand what it takes to grow and maintain a strong network over an extended period. You’re not interested in commission-heavy, “Always Be Closing” sales jobs.
- You’re comfortable talking with a wide range of stakeholders in a variety of situations, whether it’s blue collar users at a trade show or white collar execs in a boardroom, and you instinctively adapt your approach for each situation.
- You understand that strong partnerships are built over time, and you have a thoughtful, organized approach to managing those ongoing conversations.
- Just hitting your KPIs is mind-numbing for you. You thrive on identifying new ideas and ways to add value, and you measure success by the value you bring rather than number of deals closed.
- You recognize that bad process and sloppy follow-up can be fatal to the deal process. You’re a meticulous organizer and scheduler, consistently keeping notes and follow-ups up to date.
- You’re comfortable travelling to the US, and being on the road doesn’t affect your productivity.
Your Responsibilities
Partner Program Stewardship
- Build and deepen relationships with existing partners (insurers, brokers, consultants, associations) to drive ongoing referrals and joint initiatives.
- Deliver educational webinars to partner staff when requested.
- Maintain and expand the partner database; track engagement, influence on sales, and relationship health.
- Collaborate with Marketing on campaign strategy, messaging, and co-marketing efforts with partners.
Partner Expansion
- Source, engage, and qualify new partner leads through market research, networking, and outreach.
- Conduct discovery conversations to understand partner needs and position CarriersEdge offerings accordingly.
- Managing the contract negotiation and execution process, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements.
- Conduct product demos with partners and customers coming through the partner network.
- Track and report on lead conversion, partner influence on customer acquisition, and sales pipeline activity.
Event Strategy & Representation
- Represent CarriersEdge at industry events across North America, engaging with customers, partners, and prospects (both partner and customer prospects).
- Coordinate pre-event outreach and post-event follow-ups with partners and customer prospects.
- Work with the Marketing Manager to manage on-site logistics, booth materials, and messaging alignment.
Our Requirements
- 8+ years of progressively senior experience in business development, partnerships sales, or channel management, preferably in SaaS or B2B.
- Demonstrated success in consultative selling and relationship-based growth, delivering on KPIs with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to identify and grow channel opportunities, conducting market research to identify new business opportunities, understand buyer needs, and analyze competitors.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with a methodical approach to outreach, follow-up, and CRM hygiene.
- Willingness and ability to travel across Canada and the US (20–30%).
- Must reside in Canada.
Additional Notes
- Principals only, no recruiters please
- This is a remote position, suitable for individuals with disabilities
CarriersEdge welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process.
