About the role
The Anti-racism Education Research Project is seeking a part-time Research Analyst to support qualitative research and knowledge translation activities. As part of our team, you will report to the study’s Principal Investigator, Dr. Csilla Kalocsai, Education Scientist at Sunnybrook Research Institute.
As a successful candidate, you will demonstrate strengths in qualitative social and health research, an unwavering commitment to equity and justice, as well as capacity to facilitate ongoing engagement with community partners and diverse individuals from across the hospital.
You will have the option to work partially remotely.
Who We Are
Launched in June 2022, the Anti-Racism Education Research Project is a grant-funded longitudinal study that aims to understand how anti-racism education is produced and received in academic hospitals. It is a participatory research study with a large collaborative team, many of whom are involved in the frontline of anti-racism advocacy, education and/or healthcare. It centers Black and Indigenous people who work, volunteer, and learn in academic hospital settings, and works in partnership with Black (BDGT) and Indigenous Data Governance Tables (IDGT) to ensure that the work benefits these hospital-based working communities.
Summary of duties include (but not limited to):
Contributes to the conduct and reporting of qualitative studies, including:

Assisting with the preparation of ethics applications and renewals

Liaising with study investigators and hospital staff to facilitate recruitment

Conducting participant recruitment/enrollment and informed consent processes
-
Performing data collection, maintenance, and analysis
-
Providing research support with literature reviews
-
Helping to maintain recruitment logs and study files to store, access, and retrieve data

Attending research meetings
-
Communicating with Principal Investigator and core study team to provide updates and co-develop insights
-
Leading and/or assisting team members with the preparation of materials for proposals, presentations, progress reports and publications

May support other, project-related research and knowledge translation activities if interested and time allows
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in social sciences and/or relevant field
- Experience working with Indigenous, Black and other equity-deserving groups in Canada preferred
- Demonstrated qualitative and narrative interviewing, ethnographic observation, and analysis skills
- Ability to foster authentic, trusted relationships with a variety of people
- Ability to address problems and situations that might be uncomfortable
- Excellent verbal and written communications, interpersonal and critical thinking skills
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
- Ability to work well in a deadline-oriented and team-based environment with competing priorities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Some flexibility to work between Monday to Friday, both in-person and online.
