Job Description
The Government of Alberta is seeking an experienced Data Analytics Specialist / Data Scientist to support the Data Centre of Excellence in designing and delivering advanced analytical data products and services that enable evidence-based decision-making across government ministries.
The successful candidate will work on data analytics, statistical modeling, machine learning, AI, predictive analytics, data engineering, visualization, and data product development while collaborating with technical teams and business stakeholders.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and deliver analytical models and data products. Build predictive and prescriptive analytics solutions. Apply AI and Machine Learning techniques to solve business problems. Analyze, clean, transform, and prepare complex datasets. Develop statistical and quantitative models. Create dashboards and visualizations. Build algorithms that deliver business value. Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand analytical requirements. Develop analytical frameworks, roadmaps, and recommendations. Support data governance, metadata management, and data quality initiatives. Work with data engineers and analysts on enterprise data projects. Present analytical findings and recommendations to senior leadership. Mentor team members and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Mandatory Qualifications
Candidates must have:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline (or equivalent). 6+ years of experience with Python, R, SQL, or similar statistical/programming languages. 6+ years building analytical and quantitative models. 6+ years preparing data for predictive and prescriptive analytics. 5+ years translating business problems into analytical solutions. 6+ years applying data science methodologies and advanced statistical analysis. 6+ years using AI or Machine Learning in analytics projects.
