About the role
At SMS Equipment, the right partnership makes everything possible. We are seeking a Undercarriage Product Manager to take ownership of our undercarriage product line, driving OEM and aftermarket sales growth across construction, forestry, and mining sectors. This role combines technical expertise, business acumen, and strategic market development to grow market share in alignment with corporate objectives.
This position requires approximately 50% travel, including visits to SMS operations and manufacturers globally for training and product awareness.
Location: Acheson, AB
Salary: $90,000 – $110,000 annually
Incentive: Up to 20% of base salary based on performance and business targets
Vehicle Allowance: Provided
What You’ll Do
- Take ownership of the undercarriage product line, ensuring profitable market share growth.
- Perform market assessments to identify opportunities, growth areas, and gaps in customer needs.
- Lead competitive analysis to inform pricing, features, after-sales support, and positioning.
- Act as subject matter expert, guiding strategy, technical knowledge, and go-to-market plans.
- Collaborate with sales teams to support customer presentations, quotations, and recommendations.
- Provide product training and expertise to Product Support Sales Representatives and Mining Product Support Representatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with OEMs, suppliers, and industry associations.
- Report on product line updates, competitive intelligence, and performance to senior management.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field, plus 10+ years’ industry sales/marketing experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and technical understanding to support product application, training, and manufacturer communication; HET with undercarriage knowledge considered an asset.
- Proven business acumen with ability to drive profitable growth.
- Deep knowledge of undercarriage products, markets, and dealer model operations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving
- Proven business development track record leveraging customer and market insights.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel advanced).
- Bilingualism is an asset.
