About the role

Sperling Industries Ltd. is an industry leader in structural steel manufacturing and

mechanical equipment supply and install. We are looking for an individual to join our

team as an experienced Industrial Painter.

Summary:

The successful candidate will work on a variety of industrial coating projects while gaining

knowledge of production planning, quality control and team support. This position is a

permanent, full-time job based out of Sperling Manitoba. This role is ideal for someone

who takes pride in high-quality workmanship and is interested in growing into a

leadership position with mentoring responsibilities. Our ideal candidate will have the

proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced/challenging environment and will have

the paint expertise and knowledge we require.

Primary Responsibilities:

Work with and follow instructions from management Read and follow work orders, technical data sheets, assembly trackers, blueprints,

and production documents Read and understand all job hazard assessments as well as follow all applicable

safety procedures and practices Prepare surfaces for industrial coatings (cleaning, blasting, priming…) Apply industrial paints using spray, brush, roller application methods for enamel

and polyurethane paints Use power and hand tools as necessary Operation of forklift and combi-lift daily Communicate timely and appropriately with the paint shop team and other

departments and supervisors to ensure production flow is successful Maintain and trouble shoot equipment related to the paint shop Inspect finished work to ensure quality standards are met before items are

shipped General shop duties as required while maintaining a clean and organized work

area

Education, Experience, skills:

Must be able to read, write and speak English Must be hard working, reliable, punctual and safety conscious Familiar with painting terms and standards with a strong attention to detail and

commitment to quality Ability to work independently as well as part of a team Willingness to learn and take on increased responsibility over time Leadership experience is an asset but not required Must demonstrate an understanding of quality control practices including

measuring surface profiles, surface treatments, application techniques, coating

thickness, and ambient environmental conditions – minimum 3 years experience

Compensation: Starting salary $25 plus an hour depending on qualifications and experience. Overtime remunerated at 1.5x Comprehensive Dental/Medical benefits package RRSP match program for long term employees
