Your Next Challenge Reporting to the Engineering Coordinator, Underground Mine, you will be part of the Engineering Department. You will be tasked with a variety of technical responsibilities, including survey, ventilation, design, and ground control. Given the remote location and scale of the operations, you may be required to broaden your scope of responsibilities and demonstrate proficiency and autonomy in relevant areas. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

• Produce and issue detailed layouts of the underground mine, with respect to current standards;
• Support and assist the mine planners in the design process;
• Develop and contribute to the development of standardized work procedures;
• Produce a bi-monthly reconciliation of the mine development meters and volume excavated from the underground workings;
• Perform task observations for ground support installation and provide support and training to miners, conduct ground‑condition inspections and create ground‑support layouts for secondary support in collaboration with the mine engineers;
• Take accurate ventilation readings of underground workings and prepare the ventilation survey report, proactively investigating any anomalies;
• Provide occasional assistance with surveying activities, including installation of laser stations, survey updates for development headings and proper transfer of information to the relevant mining plans;
• Promote Health and Safety by participating in Departmental Health & Safety oriented activities.

What You Need To Succeed

• College Diploma in Mining or Civil Engineering;
• 4 years of experience as an underground mine technician (operational mining context);
• Experience in one or more of the following: Underground Survey, Mine Design and Drafting, Underground Ventilation or Underground Ground Control;
• Expertise with survey equipment is considered an asset (Total station, GPS, CMS);
• Expertise with mine Design Software is considered an asset (Deswik);
• Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

Note that the official working language at our Hope Bay Project is English.

Your Work Schedule

• Schedule: 21 days of work, followed by 21 days for transportation and rest;
• Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
