About the Role
As a key member of our accounting team, you will be responsible for developing our accounting and finance capabilities overall. This includes development of our financial system, workflow procedures and management, and reporting capabilities. You will also serve as a key stakeholder in collaboration with our leadership and functional teams in developing reporting and insights that drive the business forward.
Key responsibilities include:
- Responsible for GAAP reporting; management of the general ledger, journal entries and preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Responsible for accounting functions including revenue recognition, cash management.
- Responsible for semi-monthly payroll for US and CA employees including yearend procedures, EHT, and WCB filings.
- Responsible for stock based compensation accounting.
- Comply with international, federal, state and local governments' legal and reporting requirements and filings.
- Work with internal teams to develop internal guidance and support in order to drive successful growth and efficient scale.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Boast’s financial systems, policies, procedures, and controls.
What You'll Need:
- Proven track record of implementing accounting best practices.
- Experience implementing and optimizing financial systems.
- Demonstrated accounting experience, with full-cycle accounting ownership
- Experience with multi-currency, multi-entity and consolidations.
- Experience with Canada and US payroll.
- CPA certification
- Strong technical accounting skills, particularly regarding technology companies.
- Strong technology usage and configuration skills.
- Data Management skills with a technology focus.
- Intermediate to advanced excel skills required.
- SQL, R, and Python skills are a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to work cross-functionally.
- A self-starter who anticipates problems and proactively finds solutions.
