The IT Division of the Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement is responsible for setting government-wide policies and standards in IT infrastructure, IT support services, security, telecommunications, and citizen service delivery.

The IT Division is currently seeking a highly motivated individual with strong communication, technical, and problem-solving abilities, with an advanced level understanding of incident management and problem management methodologies to ensure client satisfaction for 13000 end users who are provided services through the ITD’s enterprise-wide network.

Reporting to the manager of Problem Management, the Senior Remote Support Problem Analysts will be responsible for the resolution and root cause analysis of incidents and problems. Senior Remote Support Problem Analysts perform advanced troubleshooting and investigation, and are required to manage incidents and problems by engaging resources/teams within the organization as needed. You will also be responsible for participating in projects as a technical resource, as well as providing coaching and training to Remote Support Analysts, ensuring continuous performance improvement and transfer of knowledge relating to organizational support history.

The knowledge of current Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, such as Windows desktop and server, Active Directory, INTEL-based desktop hardware, Microsoft Office Suite of applications, cloud solutions, and data communications hardware, software, and networking protocols with emphasis on TCP/IP is critical to assess and fulfill clients’ needs.

This knowledge would typically be gained through the completion of a Computer Science degree as well as certifications in A+ and MCDST. Accordingly, the skills required for this position would be obtained through several years of related management experience.

You will have knowledge of:

  • current desktop and network server operating systems such as Microsoft Windows Desktop/Server;
  • commercial software systems, including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Exchange, and Enterprise Remote Support applications;
  • networking architecture including Firewalls, Switches, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN;
  • domain tools such as Active Directory users and computers; and
  • best practice framework approaches intended to facilitate the delivery of high-quality information technology.

You will have the ability to:

  • identify, clarify, and diagnose technical problems such as delays, malfunctions, and errors, and determine the true cause of incidents and problems, and provide workable, reasonable, optimal solutions, recommendations, or decisions in a reasonable time frame; (technical problem solving)
  • independently or as part of a team, assess, plan, and adjust work priorities to meet required objectives in consideration of deadlines to effectively deliver IT services in a changing environment; (organizational)
  • compile, evaluate, and organize relevant information to respond to incidents and problems, produce in-depth documents or reports, and make recommendations and/or decisions; (analytical/written communication)
  • identify, explore, and evaluate options on data, processes, and methodologies, information technology, and potential systems design to make feasible recommendations; (analytical) and
  • work independently and participate as a team member to meet the needs of clients and co-workers, and to build productive, positive work relationships. (teamwork)
