We are currently looking for a Manager, Operations Finance , to join our Operations Finance team in a permanent position. As a member of the Finance team supporting both Energy Delivery and Power Production, the Manager, Operations Finance will be responsible for leading a team of analysts and managing the financial results of various business units within the Energy Delivery and Power Production Portfolios.

This position will appeal to individuals who have leadership experience, are comfortable with detailed analytical work, have strong quantitative skills, and are interested in contributing to achieving business results. This key position will supervise a team of employees and provide guidance and leadership to support the achievement of the team’s goals and objectives.

Key Elements Of This Role Include

  • Responsible for the accuracy and timely reporting of monthly, quarterly and annual operating results
  • Prepare and review annual operating budgets and forecasts
  • Leadership of the cross-functional Operations Finance team
  • Support Senior leadership to meet financial goals and identify cost savings initiatives.
  • Work with various cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives while maintaining effective financial controls

The Manager, Operations Finance must perform tasks with excellent overall quality, while being able to prioritize work to meet deadlines and identify, recommend, and implement process improvements.

These Skills Will Make You Successful You recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:

  • You must possess an undergraduate degree with a focus in Accounting or Finance and have a CPA designation with 5 years of related work experience, including experience leading and managing a team.
  • You must be detail-oriented, possess strong organizational skills and thrive in a deadline driven, team-focused environment. You are focused on building relationships and have strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • You must be comfortable with reviewing detailed analytical work and have strong quantitative skills.
  • You will also possess strong Excel skills (comfortable analyzing complex financial models, detailed spreadsheets and working with large quantities of data).

We provide 95 per cent of the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in Nova Scotia, and serve over 500,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers across the province.

Our 1,700 dedicated, safety-focused employees help manage $5 billion worth of generation, transmission and distribution assets and produce more than 10,000 gigawatt hours of electricity each year.

We use a fuel mix including hydro, tidal, wind, coal, oil, biomass and natural gas to generate electricity. Our facilities can generate as much as 2,453 megawatts of electricity that is delivered across 32,000 km of transmission and distribution lines throughout Nova Scotia.
