Job Description Summary The Commissioning Specialist is responsible for commissioning of hydroelectric turbine-generator units. Working with the Commissioning Leader and Commissioning Engineers, the Commissioning Technician will be reviewing designs, preparing commissioning procedures, plan tooling requirements and perform verification of instruments, commissioning auxiliaries’ system and the turbine & generator at site. Also, Commissioning Technicians are required to perform calibration of commissioning instruments at the commissioning laboratory as well as ship/receive instruments to/from sites and keep the place organized and clean
Job Description Preparation and planning phase:
- Support the project execution team on commissioning matters;
- Technical governance and customer relations on commissioning matters;
- Enhance commissioning team's technical excellence by participation in technical support, training and mentoring on best practices, calculations, etc.;
- Provide support to ensure on-time delivery of documentation, procedures & reports;
- Contribute to overall quality and excellence in execution of installation & commissioning.
- Plan and support pre-commissioning effort (instrumentation, documentation, etc.)
- Perform instrumentation calibration at the lab as well as manage to send instrument for external calibration when necessary.
Execution Phase
- Ensure work is performed safely according with GE standards and local requirements;
- Perform instrument functionality verification at site;
- Responsible for the start-up of the various auxiliaries’ system;
- Perform the commissioning of the turbine & generator including vibration analysis and balancing;
- Conduct electrical commissioning tests on generator during its construction stages (stacking, winding & assembly);
- Conduct electrical commissioning tests on instrumentation of hydro power plant and synchronous condenser facilities;
- Conduct commissioning tests (electrical and mechanical) of auxiliaries’ systems of hydro power plant and synchronous condenser facilities;
- Perform the electrical test support for the start-up of Hydro power plant and synchronous condenser facilities;
- Perform the electrical test support for special field measurements (as per detailed procedures that are established) to perform the electrical commissioning test support for the start-up of hydro power plant and synchronous condenser facilities (some cases may involve working in switchyard or an associated auxiliary facility);
- Perform LOTO and safety preparations as required by the commissioning tests;
- Provide support to the site teams regarding the technical issues or challenges;
- Keep good records about site activities, work performed, issues faced and how they were dealt with (non-conformity) to provide feedback to business and support it with information in case of claims;
Collaborate in resolving complex problems.
