Within the accounting team, you will play a key role in the financial monitoring of projects and in improving financial processes related to project management.

At BPA, we believe that project performance relies not only on technical expertise but also on strong financial management. We are looking for an experienced Project Controller who will play a strategic role alongside project managers to ensure the financial health and performance of a portfolio of engineering projects.

In this key role, you will be at the center of collaboration between technical teams, project managers, and the finance department, actively contributing to decision-making and the optimization of project management practices.

Your Impact

You will be responsible for ensuring rigorous financial monitoring of projects and supporting teams in the understanding and analysis of project financial data.

More specifically, you will:

  • Monitor a portfolio of engineering projects and ensure the quality and accuracy of financial information within project files
  • Work closely with project managers and billing teams
  • Organize periodic meetings with managers to evaluate work in progress and support revenue recognition
  • Analyze project profitability based on project progress and validate the consistency of financial data
  • Identify at-risk projects and follow up with project managers (additional fees, change directives, overruns, etc.)
  • Support project managers in understanding and interpreting financial indicators
  • Contribute to the preparation of performance reports, KPIs, and quarterly presentations for management
  • Ensure billable rates are updated in accordance with contracts and government requirements
  • Participate in the implementation and improvement of project control methods and project management tools
  • Contribute to month-end closing activities and external audit documentation
  • Contribute to the migration of the ERP system and support teams during the transition period

You will also participate in the evolution of project financial management practices, particularly through the use of our ERP and project management systems.

Profile Sought

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA designation (asset)
  • Minimum of 9 years of experience in project control, ideally within engineering, construction, or professional services
  • Strong financial analysis skills and ability to understand project-related financial challenges
  • Mastery of French and English, both spoken and written*
  • Excellent ability to collaborate with managers and multidisciplinary teams
  • High level of rigor, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple files simultaneously
  • Proficiency in English is essential due to the shared service model and to maintain an appropriate ratio among certain roles, ensuring effective coordination and service delivery across the organization.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP
  • Experience with SuiteProjects Pro / NetSuite
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365
