The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. The Manager of Patient Activities and Volunteers oversees patient engagement, activities, and volunteer services for the Stout Street Recuperative Care Center (SSRCC). This role develops and coordinates programs, classes, and activities that support patients’ physical, social, and emotional well-being during their stay while fostering a welcoming, engaging, and inclusive community environment. The position recruits, trains, schedules, and supports volunteers and cultivates partnerships with community organizations to expand programming and resources, working closely with interdisciplinary staff to promote meaningful patient engagement and ensure activities and volunteer services align with the organization’s mission and patient care goals.

Essential Job Functions

Maintains current and complete COVID‐19 vaccination(s), as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health authorities. Collaborates closely with the Manager of Volunteer Services and In-Kind Giving at CCH. Have the ability and willingness to develop and motivate other team members to embrace a culture of connection and innovation and seek out and incorporate patient input into planning. Manages departmental needs and goals within department budgets and maintains costs within budgeted amounts and manages associated data and documentation. Assess patient preferences and develop a program of opportunities and activities that are meaningful to the patients served and enhance their health and sense of well-being (identity, growth, autonomy, security, connectedness, meaning and joy). Supports the idea that harm reduction and motivational interviewing move us all along the change spectrum in the most ideal way. Researches, recruits, and schedules volunteers to provide an array of various support and services in the SSRC (some examples include hair stylists, tutors for GED classes, exercise trainers, animal therapy organizations, musicians, artists, ESL instructors, etc.); Maintains current volunteer information and activity tracking using the designated online tools (Raiser’s Edge or other platforms) to keep track of volunteers, their training and assignments. Engages and motivates residents resulting in program participation. Structures the day-to-day operations of volunteers supporting the SSRC and plans patient activities; supervises and coordinates volunteers; serves as a liaison with leadership Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications Summary

Job Competencies Sound critical thinking and decision-making skills Demonstrated sensitivity to and a desire to work with underserved populations required Consistently superb customer service skills; excellent interpersonal/assertive communications skills demonstrating a high degree of emotional intelligence Experience with Microsoft Office required, Excel or other data application strongly preferred Understands workflow, prioritizes, uses timelines, understands deadlines Must have a valid Colorado Driver’s License and meet CCH automobile insurance eligibility Experience 2+ years related experience in life enrichment, activities coordinator, recreation therapy, volunteer coordination, and/or event management required. Experience with oversight of a budget and associated documentation OR experience with oversight creating weekly and monthly schedules for multiple volunteers or staff is required. Demonstrated ability to work and cultivate relationships across a variety of sectors with multiple types of stakeholders and communities is required. Experience working in settings with people experiencing homelessness preferred. Experience in training of staff and supervisory experience coaching direct reports preferred.

Education

Background/degree in one or more: Recreational Therapist, Occupational Therapist Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant; Music Therapist; Art Therapist, or similar preferred.
