Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, the Planning Engineer provides engineering support related to transportation planning and design, capital planning, asset management, and project management on behalf of the Planning and Infrastructure department. This role involves managing and analyzing transportation asset data, contributing to the asset management program, and providing technical input into the capital planning process. The Planning Engineer will also be responsible for evaluating infrastructure needs, prioritizing projects, and ensuring that all initiatives align with municipal goals, budgets, and service levels.
The ideal candidate for this position will hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, combined with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in planning, design, project management, and land development. At minimum, successful applicants must be Engineer-in-Training (EIT’s) registered with APEGA. A Professional Engineer designation is preferred. Experience with managing traffic counters, survey equipment, and other measurement devices will be considered an asset. Successful applicants will possess knowledge and experience with Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering.
The salary range for this permanent position is $81,389 - $103,549 per annum. The current work week is based on 35 hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, with the option to participate in the Town's Flexible Work program. The Town offers an excellent benefits package, including participation in the Local Authorities Pension Plan.
