About the role

This posting is for one full-time temporary position up to one year

T he HR Service Centre is responsible for the administration of programs and policies related to functional areas of Human Resources. The Human Resources Service Specialist has a critical role within the team by communicating and processing activities related to the employee lifecycle, from hire to retire. The position requires a proactive approach in anticipating needs and a solutions-oriented mindset to resolving issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery of Human Resources operational processes throughout the employee lifecycle, including hiring, onboarding, employee changes, promotions, compensation, benefits, termination, and off boarding
  • Execute transactions both within Oracle HCM and outside of the system
  • Day-to-day benefits administration
  • Collaborate with Human Resources Business Partners, Payroll, HR Systems, and other teams to ensure that processes and practices are delivered consistently, reliably and in a timely manner
  • Act as a subject matter expert on Oracle processes by providing advice, internal consultation, and coaching to others
  • Identify gaps/errors, troubleshoot, and work collaboratively with business leaders and other teams to determine the best approach to find a solution
  • Create documents, forms and process maps to support HR Service Centre operations Provide escalation support for employee and leader inquiries

Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma in Human Resources, Management, Business or a related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources
  • Strong knowledge of Human Resources policies, procedures and operating practices
  • Experience in benefits administration, preferably in a public sector environment with both union and non-union benefit plans
  • Proficiency with Oracle or a similar HRIS; advanced Excel and SharePoint is an asset
  • Ability to apply Human Resources principles to various situations with a wide audience, and provide guidance and advice on policy or procedures
  • Ability to organize workflow and priorities to meet deadlines
  • Creative and resourceful in finding solutions to issues
  • Highly analytical with technical aptitude
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism
  • Ability to collaborate with and support various stakeholders and build relationships Excellent customer service and team skills with a positive and can-do attitude
