The Senior Systems Architect, Investment Applications is responsible for defining IMCO’s strategic blueprint for the design and implementation of investment applications that align with prioritized business needs. This role leads the development of both interim and target-state technical architectures, ensuring a clear understanding of dependencies and the optimal sequencing of capability delivery. The goal is to maximize long-term value while minimizing future rework.

This position reports to the Vice President, Front Office Technology.

As a Member of Our Team You Will be Responsible For:

  • Define and lead the design, roadmap, and implementation of IMCO’s strategic application architecture to support investment capabilities across front office and operations.
  • Provide architectural leadership in shaping interim and target-state technical designs, offering stakeholders clear options and transparency on trade-offs.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify dependencies and recommend optimal sequencing of technology initiatives.
  • Influence and engage senior executives to drive adoption of target-state architecture and interim solutions.
  • Assess and recommend insourced and third-party components to deliver right-sized architectural solutions.
  • Lead technical Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs) to validate business requirements, identify technology risks early, and ensure seamless integration into IMCO’s ecosystem.
  • Establish and enforce architectural standards and frameworks to ensure consistency across investment applications.
  • Serve as a key member of the Technical Design Authority (TDA), reviewing and contributing designs to ensure alignment with IMCO’s architecture principles.
  • Facilitate cross-project technical discussions within the Enterprise Working Group to resolve design and delivery challenges.
  • Coach and mentor technical teams on architectural frameworks and best practices.
  • Collaborate in an agile environment, working closely with analysts, developers, and business SMEs to deliver and operationalize application solutions.

What do you need to succeed?

  • 10+ years of progressive technology experience, including 7+ years in solution architecture and application delivery in a leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or Engineering (or equivalent experience), with additional professional training or certifications in financial markets, enterprise architecture, or technical design.
  • Proven expertise in evaluating, selecting, and implementing vendor technology platforms for investment management, operations, and front-office applications.
  • Deep understanding of investment management, accounting, performance, and risk principles, or broad knowledge of security types and investment data, including exposure to marketable securities, derivatives, and private markets (e.g., Real Estate, Infrastructure, Private Equity).
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage both business and technical teams and influence decision-making at senior levels.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture, data solutions and integrations, and application design best practices.
  • Experience with investment platforms, integration technologies, cloud architecture (e.g., Azure), and enterprise application frameworks is highly desirable.
