About the role

Position: Pharmacy Technician
Department: Pharmacy

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible and accountable for the inventory management of the Pharmacy, the dispensing and compounding of drugs, as delegated by a Pharmacist, and the distribution component of Pharmacy Services, in keeping with the standards of Hospital Pharmacy practice.

PROGRAM INCENTIVE

North Bay Regional Health Centre is offering $5000 in exchange for a two-year commitment to the Health Centre as a Regulated Pharmacy Technician. Funds are received in increments throughout the two-year commitment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certification/Experience/Knowledge:

  • Graduate from a Pharmacy Technician course or equivalent required
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (Ontario College of Pharmacists)
  • Minimum two (2) years recent Material Management experience in a hospital setting is required
  • Experience in a hospital pharmacy and hospital pharmacy automated technologies are assets
  • Knowledge and experience with Meditech an asset
  • Extensive knowledge of:
    • Inventory maintenance, including HPP Contracts, Gemms program, PharmaClik
    • Procurement through Special Access Program
    • Meditech Maintenance including formulary, night cupboard, recurring requisitions, Synagis Program Coordination
    • Exprex, TNK, TPA Statistics, Fiscal Inventory

Skills/Abilities:

  • Computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word) required
  • Demonstrated excellent judgment and proven analytical skills required
  • Good attendance and work record required
  • Must demonstrate commitment to ensure the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors
  • Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
  • Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level

The North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is a unique healthcare organization with three primary roles. It provides acute care services to North Bay and its surrounding communities, it is the district referral centre providing specialist services for smaller communities in the area, and it is the specialized mental health service provider serving all of northeast Ontario

NBRHC has 389 beds and numerous outpatient and outreach services in North Bay and throughout the northeast region.

NBRHC is one of four major acute care hospitals serving northeast Ontario; the others being Sault Area Hospital, Timmins and District Hospital and Health Sciences North (Sudbury). The area is also served by small community hospitals like Mattawa and West Nipissing General hospitals.
