Position Purpose The Manager, Associate Relations-Compliance is responsible for developing and implementing policies and programs that promote positive associate relations across Canada.
The individual oversees and The Home Depot Canada's immigration process, and responsible for reviewing and handling immigration cases and liaise with leaders, HR business partners, immigration legal counsel to achieve compliance with Canadian immigration laws and THD's internal immigration policy. The individual provides ongoing immigration education and training, consultation related to immigration program activities and maintains the Immigration intranet portal.
They review and stay abreast of employment related-laws, Canadian immigration updates, guidelines, and trends and update internal practices and Policies accordingly. They also identify potential risks, makes recommendations for improvement, and proactively escalate to sr. leaders as appropriate.
This position is also responsible for managing employment legal cases including collection and review of all documentation, recommended responses and preparation with legal counsel, and support legal proceedings.
An in-depth knowledge of employment legislations, immigration legislations and practices, Home Depot policies and procedures and practical application of Associate Relations practices is critical to success in this role.
The role reports to the Sr. Manager of Associate Relations.
Position Responsibilities Provide advice and policy interpretation to internal HR Partners and leaders on a broad range of human resources and employment related issues including attendance management, accommodation and performance management.
Lead the development, planning and execution of compliance and immigration strategies and initiatives.
Manage employment legal cases including collection and review of all documentation, recommended responses and preparation with legal counsel, and support legal proceedings.
Manage immigration requests and inquiries and partner with immigration legal counsel, when required.
Ensure human resources policies and procedures meet applicable provincial employment legislative requirements. Facilitate updates to HR SOPS.
Play a significant role in change management of organizational structure changes.
Analyze, evaluate and report on key associate relations data and trends to provide progress measurement on initiatives and program and identify future actions.
Manage Compliance and Ethics program.
Support associate escalations, mitigate risk and ensure open door practices are fostered across the Division.
Creating toolkit and training material and conducting training session for leaders on legal and Associate Relations matters, develop customized training where appropriate.
Ensure timely communication of sensitive and urgent information. Make recommendations on any discernible patterns of concern.
Conduct in depth research and recommendations regarding Associate Relations issues as required across the Division.
Execute Associate Relations initiatives and projects, consult with HR business partners, launch new policies, monitor completion and measure success
Prepare documents within the department.
Ensure the Associate Relations SharePoint site is continually updated with relevant information
Drive AR captaincy in the Canadian division.
In close partnership with the Learning Organization, provide recommendations on common development needs for incorporation into the divisional training curriculum for associates.
Attend external HR conferences and trainings, as required.
Support client groups and provide consultation on different Associate Relations matters.
Support complex investigations
Knowledge/Experience Required University degree, preferably in Business, Human Resources or a related field
6-8 years of progressive experience in Human Resources with a focus in Associate Relations and 5 + years of Human Resources generalist experience
CHRL designation is an asset
In-depth understanding of employment practices, policies and store operations processes
Solid understanding of applicable employment and immigration provincial legislation
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with associates at all levels of the organization
Strong investigation skills
Self-starter, efficient, organized and able to produce high quality work in short timelines
Exceptional interpersonal communication, customer service and problem-solving skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to maintain confidential information
Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
Results driven, highly organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Excellent facilitation and presentation skills
Minimal travel required
Bilingual verbal and written communication skills in French and English would be an asset
This role requires in-office attendance at least a couple days a month.

The pay range for this position is between $70,400.00 - $79,100.00
