McElhanney Ltd. has a new opportunity for a Junior Structural Engineer/Engineers-in-Training to enhance our growing team in Terrace, BC. What You’ll Do

  • Structural designing: Provide engineering support for various projects including Industrial, Infrastructural, municipal, commercial and residential.
  • Technical writing: Write technical reports and assist in the preparation of approval, tender and contract documents.
  • Field inspections: Complete field verifications to monitor the quality and progress of the work being performed and to complete structural condition assessments.
  • Health and safety adherence: Prepare and adhere to site-specific health and safety plans.
  • Project implementation support: Provide support to other departments (civil, survey, materials testing, and environmental engineering) to learn about and develop a holistic approach to project execution.
  • Managing resources and task completion: Work with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality control standards are achieved and maintained.

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in structural engineering or civil engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution accreditation preferred.
  • Registration in good standing as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) in British Columbia, or eligibility to be registered; candidates with relevant experience or a commitment to obtain accreditation are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be directly supervised by a professional engineer (P.Eng.) registered in BC.
  • Technical skills: proficiency in knowing and applying structural engineering concepts, national and provincial building codes and best practices for technical writing.
  • Exceptional Communication and Collaboration: Outstanding communication, teamwork, and leadership prowess.
  • Technological Proficiency: Proven ability to stay abreast of cutting-edge technology and adeptly incorporate industry tools into project work.
  • Software Expertise: Proficiency in industry-leading structural engineering software and applications, including Risa, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and MS Office.
  • Driver’s License: Valid Class 5 driver’s license.

What Can We Offer You?

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $85,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
