NVIT anticipates a requirement for a full-time, ongoing Success Centre Planner based at the Burnaby campus. NVIT invites applications from qualified individuals. This will be a full-time, on-going position commencing as soon as the suitable candidate is available.

Job Summary:

The Success Planner must be able to work independently and will report directly to the Success Centre Manager (Merritt) while also working closely with other Success Centre staff and Elders on both campuses. As a member of the Enrolment Services team, this position will engage students and support learner advancement by utilizing relevant academic tools and supports in various subjects. The Success Centre Planner will work collaboratively to ensure that faculty, staff, and prospective and current learners receive consistent, timely, and accurate information related to accommodation and accessibility services and processes. The Success Centre Planner will work closely with the Learning Commons team to ensure learners access internal and external services that aid and support learners at any NVIT campus. As a member of the Enrolment Services team, the Success Centre Planner is connected to the whole learner cycle from prospect to graduate.

Practicing from a ‘learner centred’ approach, the Success Centre Planner focuses on:

  • Building and maintaining relationships with students
  • Providing services and supports that honour and reflect an Indigenous experience
  • Promote student well-being by encouraging healthy routines and providing access to a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Academic tutoring/coaching and skill development
  • Technological skill development
  • Oversee the setup and availability of coffee, tea, and snacks, to support student well-being.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with Elders, Faculty and Staff
  • Creating and delivering workshops both in person and virtually
  • Providing resources and opportunities for learners and their goals
  • Support students by recognizing diverse learning styles and assisting with accommodations to promote an inclusive and accessible learning environment.

This position requires extensive use of NVIT’s technological systems, including Microsoft Office, Teams, Moodle, word processing, spreadsheets, email, web applications and the learner information system Colleague and SharePoint.

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience for working with people with diverse abilities.
  • Practices from a culturally safe and appropriate, trauma-informed lens.
  • Knowledge of and appreciation for Indigenous languages and cultures, preferably Indigenous lived experiences.
  • Promotes diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Strong understanding of the learner cycle and its link to Enrolment Services supports.
  • Demonstrated experience of inclusive learning and training facilitation with diverse learner groups.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to consistent, high-quality, learner-centred service.
  • Proven critical thinking, time management, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Advanced competencies in oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to have a flexible work schedule, work independently and under pressure.
  • Demonstrates excellent ethics, integrity, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Federal and Provincial legislation related to accommodation and accessibility policies, procedures, systems, and trends with accommodation services at a Provincial and National level.
