Job Duties

  • Demonstrate a firm understanding of dewatering systems, operating principles for various equipment, and processes by which they are installed.
  • Act as the lead for management of pump assets and coordinate daily activities; assess condition of pumps prior to, and following use on site to ensure dewatering systems can perform according to design requirements.
  • Test pumps, identify, troubleshoot, refurbish, and repair electrical, power transmission, mechanical and/or other problems.
  • Manage high quality records for assets and work conducted on them and identify trends in performance problems.
  • Attend progress and planning meetings as required to provide practical input, raise concerns, and give feedback on tentative schedules.
  • Deliver a high quality 'right first time' approach to maintenance and repair activities.
  • Assist with the preparation of other components of dewatering systems as required.
  • Management of pump assets – working with the Plant & Equipment Manager, ensure all equipment is tracked and managed efficiently.
  • Communicate with Plant & Equipment Manager to ensure correct and timely ordering of necessary parts and materials for repair and maintenance.
  • Ensure the reliable performance of dewatering equipment – measure and monitor the performance of pumps, identify, and repair the cause of performance problems.
  • Assist with the maintenance and repairs to drilling equipment and troubleshooting of various other pieces of equipment.
  • Be responsible for own health and safety and that of colleagues, in accordance with current construction guidance and relevant legislation.

Terms of employment: Permanent and full-time.

The language of work: English.

Wage: $36.75 per hour.

Skills Requirements

  • Required education:

  • Diploma in pump repair and maintenance or a similar certification.

  • High school diploma.

  • First aid certificate

  • Forklift operator certification

  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate

  • Required work experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Pumping Specialist or in a similar role repairing pumps with a range of equipment.

  • Experience maintaining and repairing Electrical Piston Pumps Self Priming 575 Volts (BBA and GEHO, Submersible Pumps 1hp to 10hp 575 Volts, Centrifugal Pumps 3hp and 5hp, Puddle Pumps 115 to 230 Volts, Sump pumps 115 to 230 Volts, Borehole Submersible pumps 0.5 to 5HP 575 Volts, and Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps up to 10HP 575 Volts.

  • Water treatment and dewatering experience is an essential requirement; candidates must be able demonstrate knowledge of processes related to water treatment and construction dewatering.

  • Experience supervising junior technicians in the maintenance and repair of pumping equipment.
