We are seeking qualified individuals for the role of Planning & Scheduling Superintendent. Please note that this is not a fly-in, fly-out position and will be based in Labrador West, NL. This position will require candidates to work a Monday-Friday schedule.
Essential Job Functions:
This position entails the leadership of planning and scheduling activities within the Plant and Mine. It includes promoting all aspects of the work management process, including implementation of predictive and preventative maintenance strategies, quality monitoring, development of safe work procedures, planning and scheduling of both weekly and shutdown activities, as well as the development of effective job plans to reduce mean time to repair.
Job Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the safety of the weekly planned work and shutdown activities. Clearly communicate in advance the work planned to the area team to optimize execution.
- Clearly communicate planned and unplanned work to the team at the very beginning of the shut/shift.
- Provide work orders to employees including safety requirements, a list of required planned parts and storage location.
- Ensure all unused parts are returned to the Warehouse according to the procedure.
- Manage emergency breakdown notifications and work orders and close when complete with appropriate details and information forwarded to planner.
- Coordinate the review of schedule conflicts with the team and provide clear direction on alternatives selected
- Coordinate the review of schedule compliance at the end of the shift with their employees. Then update the schedule with status and progress
- Lead scheduled shutdown review meetings and be prepared to comment on status of work in relation to the schedule.
- Track actual progress on service days against plan
- Record reasons for delays and with issues noted
- Lead the feedback of critical information to the planning team
- Facilitate weekly review meeting with the Maintenance Team and area planners to establish and agree on shutdown scope.
- Complete monthly safety meetings with your team to foster an environment of open communication and active genuine care.
- Validate that identified items are prioritized as per the critical backlog process.
- Establishing/support good communications with operations and maintenance personnel
- Lead postmortem review of shutdown activities for lessons learned and opportunities for improvement (Including action management).
- Validate readiness of all planned activities for shutdown against site standards and requirements, prior to final scope lock-in.
- Lead all Shutdown preparation activities and execution phases to ensure control throughout the entire process
- Seek budget approvals for any unplanned or significant expenditures identified through shutdown planning process.
- Develop annual budgets for maintenance activities in the Plant and Mine
- Keeping accurate records of cost and type of maintenance or repair work conducted.
- Ensuring that records of service and reports are stored in accessible locations for future reference
- Changing current culture through embedding of work management process at all levels.
- Accomplish results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
- Help in management of existing and potential risks to achieve the strategic objectives of the organization regarding health, safety, and environment (HSE), equipment capacity, quality, productivity, and maintenance costs.
Education:
- Journeyperson Trade Certificate or Technical Diploma (Preferred)
- Engineering Degree (Mechanical/Industrial/ Electrical/Process)
License:
- Driver's License (Required)
