Aquatics, First Aid and Sport Clubs Coordinator
About the role
Purpose:
In advancing the Division of Students' vision as 'Partners in Student Success', the Aquatics, First Aid, and Sport Clubs Coordinator reports to the Manager - Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, Aquatics, and First Aid. The role responsible for implementation, administration, and evaluation of the aquatics, first aid, and sport clubs programs. The role supports in-person and virtual aquatics, first aid, and sport clubs programs in the Department of Athletics and Recreation. This includes coordination, training, and implementation of work schedules for employees in the aquatics and first aid units, and support of student volunteers in the sport clubs rUnder the direction of the Manager, the role audits various documents such as daily logs for equipment maintenance, manuals, SOPs, etc. for compliance with pertinent legislation and industry standards for aquatics, first aid, and sport clubs. This role acts as a responder for safety related issues as required.This role requires a service-focused professional who treats members of the community with respect, values their time, strives for personal best, and collaborates to provide service excellence for all. Through the delivery of dynamic and inclusive programming, the role enhances the student experience at York. The role empowers students to lead, connect, and thrive beyond the classroom environment. The role provides opportunities for student-staff leadership development, community engagement, and wellness, contributing directly to York's vibrant campus culture. The role contributions to promotes lifelong healthy habits and a sense of campus pride and belonging.
Education:
Community College diploma in a related field, such as Sport Administration, Recreation, Kinesiology or an equivalent of two years recent related experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.Holds current certifications below:
Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard â?? Pool Option
Standard First Aid with CPR-C from Lifesaving Society, Red Cross or St. John Ambulance
Lifesaving Society Instructor and Swim Instructor
Instructor Trainer (LSS or RC)
First Aid Instructor (LSS or RC)
National Lifeguard Instructor
Aquatic Supervisor Training
Pool Operator certification Note: True photocopies of all current qualifications and Lifesaving Society ID number must accompany the application
Experience:
Four (4) years' experience in the organization and administration of aquatics, first aid, and sport or recreation programs. Experience leading sport volunteers. monitoring work of large casual employee complement. administering student leadership development. Experience in delivery of remote/virtual program development and/or delivery. Experience in a college/university environment preferred
Skills:
Skill(s) required: Technical:- Intermediate level MS Word, Excel, Publisher (or simliar)() for word processing- Remote learning, web, and internet program delivery skills is an assetDemonstrated skill/ability- Updating and tracking finanicals - Knowledge of aquatics,first aid, and sport organization standards and legislation - Familiarity with recreational programming principles - Demonstrated oral communication to obtain and provide accurate information clearly and concisely- Working accurately and effectively under pressure of high volume and frequent deadlines- Ability to work with others and provide instruction including providing guidance to sport club executives- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills- Ability to draft and deliver presentations - Ability to accurately interpret and summarize information- Effective interpersonal skills and able to deal calmly, courteously and effectively with people- Demonstrated organizational skills, including ability to work independently, set priorities and meet deadlines- Demonstrated problem solving and mediation skills - Exercises initiative and sound judgementDemonstrates, shares, and lives our divisional values: Respect, Excellence, Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Care and Inclusion. Demonstrated experience and success in providing and/or creating conditions for service excellence for a variety of partners such as students, faculty, clients, customers, colleagues, users, etc.
