About the role

The Elevator Supervisor supports the Elevator Manager in the safe and efficient operation of the grain elevator facility. This role is responsible for supervising day-to-day activities such as barley receiving, storage, shipping, and quality control while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The Elevator Supervisor provides direct guidance to hourly staff, fosters strong producer relationships, and promotes a positive and safe work environment.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise daily elevator operations including receiving, storage, shipping, grading, and inventory control.
  • Ensure safe and efficient handling of barley, maintaining quality standards throughout all processes.
  • Support the Elevator Manager with staff scheduling, training, and performance coaching.
  • Monitor and maintain facility equipment, reporting issues and coordinating with maintenance teams for timely repairs.
  • Assist with barley contracting and support grower relationships by explaining delivery and settlement processes.
  • Promote and enforce company safety policies, procedures, and a Zero Harm mindset.
  • Maintain accurate records related to grain movement, grading, and inventory.
  • Act as a point of contact for producers and community stakeholders when required.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Diploma or certificate in Agriculture, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Hands-on experience in grain elevator operations or within the grain/agriculture industry.
  • Supervisory or lead hand experience with demonstrated ability to guide and motivate a team
  • Knowledge of grain grading standards and elevator safety practices.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills for working with producers and staff.
  • Basic budgeting or cost-control awareness considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of Microsoft AX system considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions

  • Regular movement throughout the facility, including climbing stairs, ladders, and accessing multiple levels.
  • Work performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, and other site elements.
  • Physical requirements may include standing, walking, bending, and lifting as necessary.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety gear will be provided and must be used in accordance with company policies and Canadian safety regulations.
