Daily Bread Food Bank works towards long-term solutions to end hunger and poverty and runs innovative programs to support individuals living on low incomes and experiencing food insecurity. Daily Bread distributes fresh and shelf-stable food and fresh-cooked meals to 129 member agencies and 207 food programs across Toronto. Daily Bread also publishes the influential Who’s Hungry report - an annual survey measuring trends in food insecurity and poverty in Toronto to educate the public and spark policy change.

Job Title : Fundraising Donor Clerk –3.5 Months Contract
Department: Finance
Reporting to : Senior Manager, Data and Donor Services
Location: 191 New Toronto Street, Toronto, ON, M8V 2E7
Wage Rate: Starting at $26 per hour, commensurate with experience
Terms: 35 hours a week, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm; Full-Time, on-site
Contract Duration: 3.5 months, Sept 22, 2025, to Dec 31, 2025

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily Bread Food Bank relies on funding from the Private Sector in order to maintain and/or expand its education and support programs and services that serve the people in our community. Donations are essential to raise public awareness of the organization and the fight against hunger. As an integral part of the Fundraising and Development team, the Donor Clerk will be responsible for the accurate entry of data in a high-paced environment to update donor records, and will provide customer service for donors.

Responsibilities:

  • Sort incoming donations.
  • Process donations in Raisers Edge (constituent and gift data entry).
  • Prepare printed receipts and acknowledgement letters for mailing.
  • Donor relations, including handling donations on the phone and in person.
  • Provide customer service to donors via telephone and email. Communicate with donors to address questions/concerns and to clarify gift instructions. Where necessary, refers donor concerns to the appropriate Manager as needed.
  • Assist with routine data maintenance.
  • Maintain Health and Safety Guidelines and DBFB policies at all times.
  • Provide additional support to the Donor Relation Team as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • A commitment to DBFB’s mission.
  • Able to work with sensitive, confidential material.
  • Experience working for a non-profit organization in a fundraising environment an asset.
  • Aptitude for learning new software programs; familiarity with donor databases an asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail, high level of accuracy.
  • Good oral communication skills (English).
  • Front line customer service skills and the ability to maintain positive relationship with donors.
  • Good to intermediate Microsoft Office suite skills. Ability to use Excel and Word merge functions an asset.
  • Reliable, organized, responsible, and independent.
  • Able to use basic office equipment including a photocopier, postage meter, adding machine.

Education/Experience (or equivalent)

  • Data entry experience. Raisers Edge experience strongly preferred.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in general office administration and customer services.
  • Preferably some fundraising, business, or communications-related courses.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Works under tight deadlines.
  • Works with confidential issues and data.
  • Sits for extended periods.
  • Involves significant computer & telephone use, often at the same time.
  • Requires a high degree of concentration to ensure accuracy.
