The Role
Neo Financial is looking for a full-time Manager, Risk & Control to join our team in Calgary. Our Risk &
Compliance team navigates through a fast-paced environment and we know how to switch gears to adapt
to any scenario. We strive to make things better, simpler and stronger. Make your mark by addressing the

What you'll be doing:
- Controls Design & Implementation: Lead the design and implementation of internal controls
across various business units to support a strong internal control environment. - External Audit Liaison: Act as the primary liaison with external auditors. Lead the planning and
execution of various external audits, including SOC 1, SOC 2, and PCI DSS. - Risk Assessment: Evaluate business processes and procedures to identify compliance risks and
develop improvement plans. Complete ad-hoc assessments of control failures and lead the way
in building processes and controls to strengthen the control environment. - Policy Management: Regularly review and update policies and processes to reflect the latest
jurisdictional regulations and emerging risk and compliance best practices. Investigate and
respond to audit and risk issues and partner inquiries, including preparing required
documentation and making recommendations to senior management. - Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with product and engineering teams to embed automated
controls into products and internal tools to meet compliance requirements. Work closely with
senior management to develop and maintain a cultural focus on compliance throughout the
organization. - Reporting & Communication: Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing control findings, risk
exposures, and recommendations for management. Present these findings to relevant
stakeholders and senior leadership. - Team Leadership: Bring leadership qualities and experience to support and grow a team,
providing guidance and support for their professional development. - Performance Management: Set goals, delegate tasks, and conduct regular performance reviews
to ensure high-quality work and professional growth. - Strategic Planning: Develop and execute the long-term strategy for the audit and controls
function, aligning it with overall business objectives and risk management goals
Who we are looking for:
- A proactive self-starter who wants to identify problems and lead the way in solving them.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in internal controls, audit, risk management, or other similar
roles, preferably with knowledge within financial services. - Proven experience leading and managing the execution of external audits and liaising with
external auditors. Experience with SOC 1 and SOC 2 audits is an asset. - A strong background in financial controls is considered an asset.
- Experience in a people management or supervisory role including the ability to motivate and
inspire a team. - An ability to build relationships as well as establish trust and credibility with your colleagues
through excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. - Experience working effectively in a team environment where flexibility, collaboration, and
adaptability are important. - Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Communications, or a closely related
field. - CPA, CISA or CIA designation are required.
- Possess strong organizational and prioritizing skills.
- Have advanced Microsoft Office or G Suite skills.
- Working knowledge of IT and financial controls frameworks (e.g., SOC1/2, COSO, COBIT, NIST,
PCI DSS) - PCIP/ISA qualification is considered an asset.
- Knowledge and/or experience with relevant legislation and regulation is an asset (i.e. FINTRAC,
FCAC, PIPEDA, OSFI).
