Soloway Wright LLP is currently seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant with 2 to 6 years of experience to join our Kingston office, providing support to a partner in our busy Construction Law practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft basic correspondence and legal documentation, including standard pleadings and motions.
  • Review all correspondence and court materials, including editing and quality assurance.
  • Coordinate service and filing of court documents.
  • Coordinate external and internal communication, including mail, e-mail, and telephone calls.
  • Maintain electronic client files, including high volumes of emails and documents.
  • Request, prepare, review, and send out accounts.
  • Maintain calendars, including coordination of meetings, court appearances, examinations for discovery, mediations, and arbitration.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements.
  • Assist with billing and accounts receivable.

Skills, Experience And Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience as a litigation assistant.
  • Experience in executive administration or as a law clerk, an asset.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Knowledge of ACL5 and NetDocuments, an asset.
  • Knowledge of Case Centre and related e-filing portals, an asset.
  • Familiar with Teams/Zoom and other meeting platforms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional presentation.
  • Experience preparing and editing correspondence.
  • Knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize job tasks to meet tight deadlines in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to respond effectively and professionally to changes in schedules and priorities.
  • Ability to ensure consistent attention to details.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to exercise discretion when dealing with sensitive information.
  • A positive, supportive and professional attitude.
  • Experience managing large-scale document production and e-discovery documents, an asset.
  • Strong understanding of the necessary court forms and filing requirements, including following updated practice directions in numerous jurisdictions in Ontario and other provincial jurisdictions.
  • Any construction experience, including liens, would be an asset.

Salary Range: $49,500 – $58,500 annually, commensurate with experience.
