About the role

Job Title: Centre Manager

Reports to: Management Committee and Director of Institutions

Status: Full time

Location: Al Salam Centre - Calgary, Alberta

Reporting directly to the Management Committee and the director of Institutions, the Center Manager’s responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and administer regular programming and special events for the Centre; responsible for the creation of procedures for the day-to-day operations and activities of the Centre
  • Take initiatives in creating programs that generate revenue for the center and launch fundraising campaigns
  • Provide overall direction in fundraising; participate in fundraising activities by travelling nationally, writing solicitation letter, coordinating events, public speaking, working with donors, and stimulating activities of others in direct fundraising
  • Oversee all Centre expenditures and revenues; prepare and submit monthly financial report to Director of Operation
  • Coordinate tasks with Centre committee and subcommittees
  • Implement the organization’s rules and policies in the Centre
  • Represent the Centre in dealing with the community and the government
  • Develop annual strategic plan and budget for the Centre, implement the plan and report on its progress to the Centre Management Board on monthly basis
  • Implement the organization’s strategies through the Centre and ensure National objectives are met
  • Maintain all official records and documents, and ensure compliance with government regulations
  • In coordination with Head Office, manage the Centre’s website and maintain online presence, including the various forms of social media
  • Develop educational material and documents for the programs and activities
  • Coordinate and distribute activities and schedule with management and administrative staff
  • Maintain official records and documents and ensure compliance to government regulations and processes
  • Develop budget and oversee all expenditures and revenues; prepare and submit financial reports
  • Work in partnership with community organizations, enhance center public relations, develop communications strategies and increase community awareness
  • Establish and maintain relationships with other institutions and organizations in community to meet community needs, and to ensure that services are not duplicated
  • Develop and maintain a strong volunteer base, sign up volunteers and staff for the center
  • Research and analyze community needs to determine program directions and goals
  • Monitor and work together with accounting team to ensure all deposits, income received and all financial transactions are appropriately documented
  • Receive & organize bookings for the center

Education and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Business, or Management is preferred
  • Experience in project management is preferred
  • Experience in public and community service and working with volunteers
  • Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills
  • Good problem solving and decision making skills
  • Excellent time management and prioritizing skills
  • Resourceful and initiative
  • Ability to thrive in a team as well as work independently
  • Organized, reliable, and highly dedicated
  • Ability and willingness to work occasionally at night or on weekends when required
  • Background in Islamic education is a great asset

Compensation:

Starting salary range depends upon education and experience. Health insurance and pension benefits will be offered.
