About the role
We're hiring a QA Engineer for a Vancouver-based startup building next-generation SaaS infrastructure for video streaming. The company recently secured additional funding and is in a significant growth phase, investing heavily in product and engineering as they scale their multi-platform streaming platform across web, mobile, and TV. This is an opportunity to step into a strategic QA role at a business sitting at the intersection of video infrastructure, multi-platform complexity, and enterprise SaaS.
This is not a traditional QA execution role. The company is looking for someone who can help define quality strategy, shape testing approaches for a complex multi-platform product, work closely with engineering and customers to ensure the platform delivers reliable experiences, and influence how quality thinking evolves as the product scales. You'll be joining at a stage where many of the biggest technical decisions are still ahead—around performance, reliability, and how quality gates the roadmap. The team is solving complex streaming and platform challenges, and they're looking for someone who can translate those challenges into testable, measurable quality criteria. You'll partner directly with engineering leadership and play a meaningful role in how the platform evolves.
Required Skills & Experience
2–4 years of QA experience within B2B SaaS or technical product environments Hands-on experience testing across multiple platforms (web, mobile—Android/iOS, or TV applications) Strong understanding of test planning, execution, defect tracking, and QA methodologies Familiarity with test automation frameworks and tools (Selenium, Appium, or equivalent) Basic understanding of backend technologies, microservices architecture, and technical dependencies Ability to work effectively with engineering teams and communicate around technical systems Experience operating in startup or fast-paced environments where ownership and problem-solving are expected Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across distributed teams
Desired Skills & Experience
Experience testing SaaS applications with microservices architectures Knowledge of video streaming technologies and protocols (HLS, DASH) Performance and load testing experience (JMeter, Gatling, or similar) Familiarity with Kotlin, Kotlin Multiplatform, or modern mobile development practices Background simplifying complex technical challenges into clear, testable quality criteria Experience at high-growth technology companies during periods of meaningful product evolution Comfort balancing customer empathy, technical reasoning, and business outcomes in QA decisions Interest in shaping how QA strategy evolves alongside product scaling
Work Arrangement
