JOB SUMMARY

This person’s primary responsibility is to oversee the stop betting & officialling of all races in Ontario, BC and Japan as well as providing administrative duties and support to the Manager.

KEY ACCOUNTABILTIES

  • Overseeing stop betting, officialling races to all Ontario, BC and Japan tracks

  • Generating and creating all racing information for all tracks we host and simulcast

  • Generating & distributing handle reports for all Ontario tracks and for Home Market wagering

  • Administrative duties such as creating cheques and triaging customer calls to the proper channels

  • Ensuring strict compliance with Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency and Ontario Racing Commission rules and regulations and any departmental operational policies developed by Woodbine Entertainment Group that pertain to the stop betting and officialling of races.

  • There will be times the role will require the employee to contact other race tracks, customers to obtain information or to assist with a question or problem.

  • They are the frontline in answering calls from the public or from other internal departments or external vendors. They can assist in answering, but need to know when to escalate calls to the Assistant Manager or Manager.

  • Communicate with 3rd party vendors like ATG (Sweden) and TabCorp (Australia) and notify them of post times and official results.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic knowledge of AGCO, ORC and WEG rules and regulations
  • Basic knowledge of pari mutuel wagering
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with the ability to solve problems in a high paced environment
  • Self-motivated and able to work on projects independently
  • Ability to think bold
  • General interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Adaptable with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to support in the decision making and problem solving process, while considering several variables and outcomes
  • Post secondary education and/or the equivalent in education and experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a pari-mutuel wagering environment dealing with systems issues, or experience in a similar fast paced environment.
  • There is a decent amount of lifestyle disruption as there are shifts that require an employe to work until 2-3:30 AM. The same people can also be called upon to work a morning shift starting at 10 AM.
