Job Description
AECOM Mississauga is currently seeking a Construction Interface Lead to play a key role in managing project interfaces, coordinating between engineering teams, contractors, and client, and driving alignment to achieve successful project outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Construction Interface Management: Establish and implement consistent processes for identifying, coordinating, and managing construction interfaces between multiple project phases. Apply a risk-based approach to minimize schedule delays, scope gaps, and cost risks.
- Interface planning and control using an Interface Management Plan, interface registers, interdependency project schedules, and standardized procedures across packages
- Safe Integration: Oversee integration between new construction works and existing infrastructure to ensure seamless connections, safe operations, and risk mitigation.
- Governance Alignment: Ensure interface management processes are aligned with organizational governance, project controls, and risk management frameworks.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with project delivery teams, construction teams, and oversight roles to embed interface management processes and secure stakeholder buy-in.
- Interface Control Documentation: Develop and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) to clearly define roles, responsibilities, acceptance criteria, and key tie-in points, minimizing misalignment.
- Change Management: Establish and lead processes for managing changes at construction interfaces, including scope clarifications, grey-area resolutions, and change order management. Ensure structured evaluation and allocation of scope where required.
- Reporting & Tracking: Manage dashboards, risk logs, and action trackers to enhance transparency of interface status, risks, and issue resolution.
- Construction Oversight Support: Support construction teams in defining responsibilities for monitoring, inspecting, and enforcing interface management activities on-site.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline: Construction Management, Engineering related discipline, etc. .
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in large-scale construction LRT Projects in Ontario project interface management, including experience in risk management, governance, or project management for underground LRT Stations and cross-contract coordination.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ideally 10 years of experience in large-scale construction LRT Projects in Ontario project interface management, including experience in risk management, governance, or Project manager for underground LRT Stations and cross-contract coordination.
- Professional certifications such as PMP, P.Eng, or CM-Lean are highly desirables
- Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams in complex project environments.
- Strong skills in stakeholder engagement, issue resolution, and contract change management.
Measure of Success
- Effective delivery of consistent interface management processes embedded in construction oversight.
- Demonstrated improvement in coordination and reduction of schedule, cost, and interface-related risks.
- Strong leadership in enabling safe, efficient, and integrated delivery of project works.
- Clear alignment of interface management with organizational governance and risk frameworks.
