Illustrator - Contract
About the role
This project seeks a talented illustrator to design a square album cover for a two-song bluegrass and folk release, "When I'm Gone / Old Home Place." The artwork should evoke a rootsy, nostalgic, and authentic feel, drawing inspiration from traditional Americana and the visual style of "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" The ideal candidate will deliver a hand-drawn look that captures the spirit of classic bluegrass and folk music. The final design will be used across digital platforms and social media to support the launch of an independent artist’s first studio album and single release. The deadline for the completed artwork is February 16th, 2026.
Deliverables
- Original, hand-drawn square album cover artwork (3000 x 3000 pixels, high-resolution JPG/PNG)
- Source file (PSD, AI, or equivalent) for future edits and resizing
- Design must include the provided song titles and artist name
- Artwork suitable for digital distribution and social media promotion
- Visual style should reflect a folksy, old-timey aesthetic with clear roots in bluegrass and folk traditions
Requirements
- Proven experience in illustration, preferably with music or album cover projects
- Strong portfolio demonstrating hand-drawn, traditional, or folk-inspired styles
- Ability to interpret creative direction and reference images to produce original work
- Proficiency with digital illustration tools (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Procreate)
- Attention to detail and ability to meet a fixed deadline (February 16th, 2026)
