Job Description
As a Dietary Aide, you will:
- Plate and serve meals in accordance with residents’ individual diets and preferences
- Maintain food at proper serving temperatures and observe strict time limits for meal service
- Follow instructions to prepare basic food items such as breakfast foods, simple desserts, and garnishes
- Clean serving areas, kitchen equipment, dishes, and utensils following infection control and safety standards
- Properly store and label dietary supplies and leftover food items
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and in-service education as assigned
- Adhere to departmental policies and procedures including quality assurance, safety, fire safety, and environmental protocols
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Requirements
- Food Handler’s Certificate (current and valid – preferred)
- Experience in a Long-Term Care (LTC) or health care setting is preferred (0–1 year)
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform moderate to heavy lifting
- Ability to understand, read, and follow written and verbal English instructions
- Strong commitment to safety and following established procedures
- Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
